Jayan Ramankutty graduated from BITS Pilani in 1980 with a BE(Hons) degree in Electronics. He subsequently, worked in India till 1983, Singapore for a little over 3 years before moving to the Silicon Valley in January 1987. Jayan has over 20 years of extensive experience in designing and developing large, multi-processor computer systems, complex ASICs and SoCs in the field of networking, telecommunication and multimedia markets. During the last two decades, Jayan has founded five companies. Most recently, he founded YuMe networks a company focused on “real-time online video Ad insertion” and KRK Labs. Prior to this, Jayan co-founded Lara Networks in 1997, a world leader in Network Search Engines(NSE) , which was acquired by Cypress Semiconductor in 2001 for approximately $300MM. In 1991, Jayan co-founded Nimbus Technology a leading designer and manufacturer of Sparc Chipset. Nimbus was acquired by Alliance Semiconductor prior to going IPO. Raju Reddy is an alumnus of the graduating class of 1981 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Sierra Atlantic (recently acquired by Hitachi Consulting). He now serves on the boards of both Hitachi Consulting U.S. and Hitachi Consulting India entities. He worked at Intel for 10 years in "software development, marketing and general management” before moving on to create "one of the top 75 most Admired companies in Silicon Valley, Top 25 great places to work in India and Top 10 best employers in South China” in Sierra Atlantic. S.P. Kothari serves as Global Head of Equity Research and is responsible for research supporting Barclays Global Investors' active equity strategies. Prior to joining BGI, S.P. was Deputy Dean and Gordon Y Billard Professor in Management at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Previously, he was the Head of the Department of Economics, Finance, and Accounting at the MIT Sloan School of Management. In 2005-06, he was Thomas Henry Carroll-Ford Visiting Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Dr. Kothari received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and is an editor of the Journal of Accounting & Economics (1997-present) , a world-renowned academic research journal in accounting. His research focuses on financial reporting and valuation, asset allocation, explaining the diversity in international accounting practices, use of employee stock options for compensating executives and accounting for stock options, evaluating investment performance, and corporate uses of derivatives for hedging and speculation. Viggy is currently the EVP (Client Implementations) at Envestnet Advisory Corp. He completed hi B.E. in Electrical Engineering from BITS Pilani (76F06385) between 1976 and 1980. He followed it up with a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and continued to work with Applied Materials, Silicon Graphics, and Hewlett-Packard. He co-founded Oberon Financial Technology, a pioneer in asset management software, which he grew from $10 million to $1.6 billion by 2004.

Srikanth Krishnamurthy heads a rubber component manufacturing company called ALFA Rubber & Spring (P) Ltd. – an ISO/TS certified OEM supply organisation catering to mainly auto-component sector. He was an Executive Committee member of Tamil Nadu Small And Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) and was Vice-Chairman of the AIEMA Technology Centre a wing of the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturer’s Association. He is also an adjunct faculty for BITS Pilani at Chennai teaching Management courses. He is a Lion (Past President of Lions Club of Madras Sembium) and also a Freemason. Shashikant(Khandoo) co-founded BITSEmbryo along with his 1997 batch BITSian classmates, and led the team from idea inception to building an Embryo Club on campus to run this project. In 2 years, Embryo has conducted 80 lectures via video-conferencing, some of them simultaneously across Pilani, Goa and Dubai campuses with an attendance of over 500 students. Shashikant is also a Founding Member and Chief Architect at TheFind Inc, a startup in shopping search with more than 10 million visitors per month. At TheFind, Shashikant has been involved in venture funding, product innovation (5 patents pending), and building a scalable search engine. Shashikant has been involved in BITSAA-SVC since 2003 in various roles. He is from the 1997 BE(Hons) CS batch at BITS and 2004 MSCS batch at Stanford. He is involved with BITSAA CEL initiatives and has been a BITS Embryo speaker. Sanjay Khendry (1982-87, Physics-EEE) is secretary of BITSAA Hyderabad. Sanjay has 23 years of experience in the IT industry in International and India sales, marketing, account & partner management, software development, public relations and general management roles, working with clients globally. Currently, as Vice-President with Sierra Atlantic, he is handling the Indian market for the company. Sierra Atlantic is Silicon Valley headquartered IT Services Company specialized in providing Enterprise Application and Outsourced Product Development services. Prior to Sierra Atlantic, Sanjay handled sales and product management at Wings Infonet Limited (1992-94). Anu needs no introduction. A globally known Tamil actress, TV anchor and chat-show host, she made her film debut in the critically acclaimed Indira (1995) and has since appeared in many Tamil films. She hosted the celebrity talk show Koffee with Anu on the Tamil channel Vijay for three seasons, which soon became very popular and made her ultimately a household name in Tamil Nadu. By 2000, she ventured into television, then starring in a number of TV series. She has also worked as a dubbing artiste, lending her voice for many non-Tamil-speaking actresses. Anu earned a M.Sc. degree in Physics and Management from the Pilani campus where her biggest takeaways were learning about life and making life-long friends. She is now very excited to join the BITSAA Board to contribute to the BITSian community.

Dr. Ashok Agarwal graduated from BITS,Pilani in December 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Earlier he did his I.Sc and B.Sc also from Pilani. He did his MS and Ph.D from the University of Minnesota. He worked at Bell Labs from 1966-1969 and was a Professor at IIMC from 1969- 1987 and Ford Fellow to Sloan School MIT and University of Minnesota. Ashok is the Founder of SQL Star International ltd, Cyber Media India Ltd, ACS Techonologies Ltd.and Era software systems (P) ltd. He is now Chairman of Special Interest Group on e-governance of Computer Society of India and the Indian Representative on IFIP TC8. He is now settled at Hyderabad India. He is married to Deepa and they have two children, Achal and Ekta both settled in USA. He was instrumental in setting up the BITSAA India Trust and in 2009, was appointed as Adjunct Professor at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.

Former President and CEO of VuCast, Vivek Pendharkar has a spectacularly rich experience of the technology engineering domain having worked in HP, Intel, Lara Networks, Cypress Semiconductors and Kasenna - all in senior leadership roles. He is currently an Entrepreneur in Residence at Artiman Ventures, a VC and Private Equity firm and lives in Palo Alto, California. Vivek holds a BS Electronic and Electrical Engineering degree from BITS Pilani which he topped up by gaining an MS in Electrical Engineering at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Shobna Varma is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of StarIsis Corporation, a transportation consulting company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, that she founded in 2007. StarIsis Corporation specializes in providing transportation related services to Federal, State and local agencies in the United States. Until recently, she served as the Chief Information Officer of the Ohio Department of Transportation for several years. During her tenure, she was responsible for leading and implementing numerous innovative initiatives resulting in significant process improvements that led to the agency being frequently benchmarked for best practices, receiving numerous awards including the Baldrige Award of excellence. She is married to a BITS alum, Balraj Varma from the batch of 1974, and they have one son. Brij is currently retired from Reston Consulting Group, which he founded in 1986. RCG provides Systems Integration services in the field of telecommunications to the US Federal Government. Brij graduated from BITS Pilani in 1965 and subsequently taught there from 1966 to 1969 and had a return engagement during Fall of 2006. Brij holds a Masters from Auburn University (1970) and has completed course work towards Doctor of Engg in EE at Concordia University, Montreal Canada. He has managed diverse projects and studies, authored many reports and published a few papers. He was also the Co-founder/Advisor of Bitsunami and Co-ordinator of Practice School in Bitsunami (2005-07).He is interested in sustainable development and renewable energy.

Niranjan works as a Business Analyst with the Infectious Diseases team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle. Prior to joining the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, he was with SDG Life Sciences, a unit of IMS Health, where he was a Senior Consultant and assisted clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries with strategy development, valuations, research validation and forecasting. Niranjan holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Dartmouth College and an MS in biological sciences and BS in pharmaceutical sciences from BITS, Pilani. His doctoral thesis was on cholera pathogenesis, with a focus on developing the assembly mechanism for an attachment factor, which is currently being targeted as a vaccine target. Aditi Pany (’00-’05) passed out of BITS Pilani in 2005 with an Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics and an MSc in Economics. But before that, she rewrote BITSian history by becoming the first elected President of the Students’ Union. As President, Aditi launched several new initiatives, including the start of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) at BITS. Her pioneering work in founding CEL at BITS,Pilani, forging long-lasting partnerships through NEN and the Wadhwani Foundation has become stuff of legend. It led to CEL, BITS Pilani being recognized as the leading center of its kind in India within 6 months of set-up. After a year’s internship at National Council of Applied Economic Research, she started her career at TARAhaat, a social enterprise developing IT enabled services for rural communities. At Asoka: Innovators for the Public, she works to facilitate partnerships to provide housing and healthcare to low-income communities. Through the years she has continued to mentor students involved with CEL at BITS, and formed a Women’s Council to enable networking among the alumni. She was presented with the "30 under 30” award, presented to achievers under the age of 30, for all-round leadership in her community building endeavors. In the case of Alumnus Seema Sood (who applied for mercy-killing), she was one of the first responders who met with Seema's family and orchestrated the drive that led to the quickest alumni fundraising for Seema's recovery (yet) in BITSAA's history. With the Board's focus in the current term on "creating an eco-system of partners to promote entrepreneurship at BITS-Pilani,” she will be a fitting addition, with her wealth of practical experience in this area.

Anupendra grew up in Delhi, and attended BITS Pilani from 1987 to 1992, graduating with a Masters in Economics and Bachelors in Instrumentation Engineering. BITS, was a life-changing personal experience for Anupendra, and he got involved with many team and leadership-based based initiatives, in most cases lacking in talent but never in enthusiasm. He took part in the Hindi and English Drama Club, Music club, and was part of winning choreography and fashion parade competitions during Oasis. Ashish is a Strategic Marketing Manager at Cypress Semiconductor. Ashish has worked with BITSAA for four years at different positions including Chief Editor, BITSAA Sandpaper 2.0 (Alumni Magazine), Secretary of the BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter as well as a volunteer for Project BITSConnect. Ashish created on-campus BITSAA teams at the Pilani and Goa campuses as well as the first Cypress PSoC lab in India at the BITS Pilani Goa campus. Ashish is an Instruite from the almost-famous 1997 batch of BITS Pilani. At BITS, Ashish was member Election Commission, member Department of Controls, Instru APOGEE co-ord and President, Sangam. Incidentally, he also holds an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Arun is an Energy Market Analyst at Dominion Resources. He currently supports Dominions lobbying efforts with analysis to determine the financial impact of climate change legistlation on electric utilities, his past included working in commodities trading desks, and working with a stock broker in India. In BITS, he was the Secretary of Dance Club, co-ord for Dance Workshop. Arun graduated from BITS, Pilani in 2001 with a M.Sc(Tech) in General Studies. He obtained an MS in Quantitative Financial Economics from Oklahoma State University. Arun is based out of Richmond, VA with his wife (Deepa Devadas, a BITS Dubai ('01) alum). In his spare time, you can find him trekking/biking along the James river in Richmond.

Kaushik is currently working at Cypress Semiconductor, San Jose, California as Product Applications Engineer, focusing on new product definition, applications development and technical marketing. He graduated from BITS Pilani in 2006 with Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Masters in Physics. While at BITS, he was a member of the Corroboration & Review Committee and actively involved in the activities of the Students' Union. He was among the first few students to participate in the Practice School Program in the Silicon Valley and has been working for the BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter (BITSAA SVC) ever since. Currently, he is also the CTO of BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter.

Aalap is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Embedded Systems Co-design Group at Texas A&M University, College Station. He graduated from BITS Pilani Goa Campus in 2008 with a B.E. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE). At BITS, Aalap has held a host of leadership positions - co-founded and led the Center for Software Development as Student Cordinator, EEE Student's Association as President, Team BITSAA (Executive Committee for Goa Campus) as Founder Secretary and BITS Embryo as the first Campus Manager. He was also the Co-Editor for "Sizzling Sands - 2007", the annual Goa Campus magazine and an Advisor to the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL). He has also been a founding member of "Abhigyaan" - the on-campus literacy program, NSS which conducted the largest Blood Donation Drive in Goa (2005), and BITS 360 (http://www.bits360.com). Rohit Koul has been working for BITSAA International Inc since 2010. Starting as a volunteer in Technology Team, he served the community as the CEO of BITSAA International from 2012-15. Among other things like starting multiple scholarships and awards, he and his team of "merry men" were instrumental in raising a million dollars for BITSAA, getting BITSConnect 2.0 implemented, BITS' partnership with Coursera/EdX, launching the concept of BITSians' Day, Taking BITS/BITSAA to NASDAQ, Setting up a merchandise store, Career Center and Mentoring network for the alumni. In his day job, he works as a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Security at Oracle, California. Rohit graduated in 2006 from BITS, Pilani (Computer Science); has a Masters in Computer Science(09-11) from University of Wisconsin-Madison, holds numerous patents and has been awarded at Oracle for special contribution and innovation. Raghu (aka Prof) graduated from BITS Pilani Goa Campus in 2008 with a B.E(Hons) in Electronics and Instrumentation. At BITS, he co founded the EIE assoc and Tamizh Sangam. He was also a member of the BITSAA Executive Committee ’07. Post BITS, he joined the Godrej group where he worked across business units in different functions like Manufacturing, HR Technology and Human Resources. Currently he is the HR Business Partner for the Chemicals SBU of the Godrej group. He is curious about people strategy and the organizational impact it creates. He loves to learn new languages and getting to know people. He also enjoys trekking, watching movies and reading about history.

Abhisheak K. Iyer graduated from BITS in 2006 with a B.E.(Hons.) Computer Science. At BITS, he was actively involved with the Computer Science Association. Post BITS, he worked for Oracle India Pvt. Ltd. in Bangalore in the Secure Enterprise Search Team for a year. Following a brief stint at Oracle, he joined Georgia Institute of Technology to pursue M.S. in Computer Science. During his M.S., he was actively involved with Computing for Good (C4G) group which works on projects that makes the lives of the underserved better. His work on Web Based System for Homeless Shelters fetched him the 2009 Donald V. Jackson fellowship presented to the Best Well Rounded student in Computer Science. He has currently (May'09) graduated from Georgia Tech and will join Epic Systems in Madison, WI as a Software Developer. CSG is a successful entrepreneur and runs Goel Engineers (India) (www.goelka.com) which is a "Perforation specialist" at New Delhi. He graduated from BITS Pilani in 1979 with a Masters in Management Sciences Degree. He has been actively participating in community building activities since his BITS, Pilani days. He was the Treasurer of BITSAA Delhi Chapter for the last 25 years & currently he is now Secretary. He has now been given responsibility as CEO of the first BITS Pilani Alumni Global Meet in 2011 at New Delhi as he is regarded as excellent organizer with several "Golden Jubilee Meets" under his belt. He has wide network of friends in industry, professionals, bureaucracy and politics. CSG has been President of Agrawal Sabha of Green Park, General Secretary of Green Park Association in New Delhi. Currently, he is National Vice President, Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) - a national body of small & medium industries. (www.fisme.org.in). His grandfather has been a famous Freedom Fighter- Shri Murli Dhar Goel, who was regarded as an engineering genius having gained expertise in producing ammunition for Indian freedom fighters.

As an IAS Officer Sudeep Jain's expertise lies in providing strategic leadership in varied fields. He turned around the City Corporation of Tirunelveli in 1999-2000, designed and managed mega free rice and free lunch distribution projects in the drought hit Nagapattinam District in 2002, led a team to create a Guinness World Record in tree plantation at Nagapattinam in Dec 2002, increased profits of Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu as its Managing Director by 24 times in 2003-2004 while simultaneously working with real estate developers to create additional IT Office Space of 25 m sqft in Chennai and improving the ranking of Chennai as IT Destination from 6th to 2nd by 2005. As MD of Elcot he also won a National e-governance Award in making Elcot Paperless. In Jan 2005 he co-founded BITSunami - a Tsunami Rehabilitation Trust of BITS Pilani Alumni Association - which adopted two villages in Nagapattinam for a $1m Integrated Development Project. Bitsunami along with District Administration re-wrote the previous Guinness World Record in tree plantation (surpassing it by 3 times) in memory of the worldwide Tsunami victims. As District Collector of Dharmapuri in 2005 Sudeep was chosen to make a presentation on Good Governance to Prime Minister of India. In 2007 Sudeep led a team winning the $25k first prize in the prestigious UW's Business Plan Competition. In 2008 Sudeep turned around Tamil Nadu Industrial Explosives Ltd surpassing its highest ever productivity achieved 12 years back by 52%. In 2009 as head of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu he challenged the budgetary planning process and increased the participation of students in Summer Sports Coaching Camps from 4500 to 93,000 without taking any extra funding from Government. In 2010 Sudeep is busy challenging the way entrepreneurship is taught through government programmes and is currently rolling out a new program in TN which could Government of India is evaluating to be a model for the country.
