Prof. L K Maheshwari Foundation, Pilani institutes "Professor L.K. Maheshwari Foundation Distinguished Alumnus Award in EEE & Instrumentation" since 2010 to recognize and honor BITS Alumnus graduated from BITS, Pilani campus with a degree in the area of Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation and have accomplished a good name at the National or International level. This award provides an opportunity for the winner to interact, motivate and show a pathway to young budding engineers and technologists pursuing degree programs in the area of EEE and Instrumentation from BITS Pilani.
2012 Winner - Narpat Bhandari
About the Winner:
Mr. Narpat Bhandari is among the top tier of Indians who have emigrated to various parts of the
world, achieved success and made significant contributions. He is a pioneering technologist, teacher, entrepreneur,
philanthropist and community leader. He is the Country Director/CEO of the Global School of Silicon Valley. He was formerly a trustee of Univ of California, Santa Cruz. Beginning in 1976 as a senior scientist at Signetics Corporation, (now
Philips Corporation), Mr. Bhandari designed the first I2L microprocessor. He then
led a team of engineers at the legendary Fairchild Semiconductor, developing
advanced bi-polar and BiCMOS technologies - the heart of many high-speed
digital products today. Bhandari has over 30 patents and papers in the field of
semiconductors, software and High Definition Television (HDTV).
He founded Aspen Semiconductors in 1987 to design and
manufacture premium Integrated Circuits (ICs) with the power, density and yield
of CMOS technology.He is an ideal citizen indulging in Philanthropy especially through Bhandari Foundation.
i. Nominees should have received at least a First /Higher /Ph.D. Degree from BITS, Pilani in the area of Electrical, Electronics and Instrumentation from Pilani Campus.
ii. Nominees should have minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
iii. The candidate should have made significant contribution in the field of Electrical, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
iv. Self nomination or nominations by BITS faculty/ Alumnus or nomination by a reputed person in the field of Academia/Research/Industry are acceptable.
