The Ashok Agarwal Scholarship has been instituted by Dr. Ashok Agarwal.
Dr. Ashok Agarwal graduated from BITS,Pilani in December 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Earlier he did his I.Sc and B.Sc also from Pilani. He did his MS and Ph.D from the University of Minnesota. He worked at Bell Labs from 1966-1969 and was a Professor at IIMC from 1969- 1987 and Ford Fellow to Sloan School MIT and University of Minnesota . Ashok is the Founder of SQL Star International ltd, Cyber Media India Ltd, ACS Techonologies Ltd.and Era software systems (P) ltd. He is now Chairman of Special Interest Group on e-governance of Computer Society of India and the Indian Representative on IFIP TC8. He is now settled at Hyderabad India. He is married to Deepa and they have two children, Achal and Ekta both settled in USA.

2010 - 11 (Sem I)
1) Pennam Sanjay:
I am Pennam Sanjay, a third student doing B.E.(Hons.) Electrical and
Electronics Engineering in BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus. I received
Ashok Agarwal Scholarship in the 1st year second semester. I am very
happy to receive this scholarship of amount Rs.40,000/- which is more
than what i get through Merit Cum Need Scholarship(Rs.20,000/-). The
amount is really helpful for middle income group students like me in
education. I am able to reduce the burden on my parents through this
scholarship. It is also very encouraging and motivating for students
like us to receive the scholarship. I sincerely thank the alumni and
management for awarding me this prestigious scholarship. I really wish
the alumni to continue giving this scholarship to help the needy.
Sem II
1) Mohammad Ghouse Mohiddin Khan
I am Mohammad Ghouse Mohiddin Khan, a third yearite, doing Electrical
and Electronics Engineering at BITS-PILANI, Hyderabad Campus. I was
selected for Ashok Agarwal scholarship when I was in my first year.
Then I didn't know that it was worth 40,000/-. But now I am very happy
because with merit cum need scholarship you get only 50% of the
tuition fee back whereas here it is the complete tuition fee. This is
very encouraging and motivating deed on the part of the management and
alumni as it is very beneficial to middle income group students like
me. My parents are very happy as the scholarship has come at the time
when there is a hike in tuition fee. I sincerely thank the management
and alumni for instituting this scholarship and believe that they
continue helping the needy.
2011 - 12 (Sem I)
1) Prabha Veerubhotla:
I, Veerubhotla V.V.L
Prabha, a student of BITS, Pilani – Hyderabad campus will be greatly
benefited by the Ashok Agarwal Scholarship. I completed by Class XII from
Vijayawada after which I secured an admission in BITS. Considering my family’s
financial constraints, I was looking for a financial aid to meet my academic
expenses here when this scholarship happened. Thanks to Dr. Ashok Agarwal, I
will be able to pay my tuition fee comfortably for the following semester &
take another step towards what I hope will be a successful career. I greatly
appreciate this kind of help for the genuinely needy students by the alumni of
BITS. Once again, I express my heartfelt gratitude for the scholarship &
the gesture.
