BITSAA International and BITS Pilani bring to you a unique and fulfilling way to give back to your alma mater. 'Back to BITS' is an effort by the BITSAA Campus Relations Team to connect alumni with the BITS campuses to have a sabbatical at BITS Pilani. We have to warn you that all the nostalgia and being around students can make you feel much younger than you are.
Why should you participate?
Teaching, as they say, is the best way to give back to the society. The Sabbatical program will provide you the perfect opportunity and chance to give back to your alma-mater by teaching, mentoring and coaching young and energized students in the three BITS Pilani campuses of India. Even if you are not a part of academia, you can be a part of this program to impart industrial knowledge to the students and direct them, motivate them and mould them into the leaders and experts that they are meant to be.
Who should participate?
BITS alumni with over 7 years of experience in teaching/R&D/industry and having a passion for teaching should apply for the program.
What is in store for you?
Nostalgia - months of it!!! With BITS Pilani giving you an environment to feel at home, you can relieve the old days in the familiar atmospheres of the BITS campus.
Flexibilities- As an alumnus, you can structure the course as per your convenience. With credits linked to the course you are assured of bright, aspiring and enthused students who would spend time beyond the required hours to reach your expectations. If successful, the course could also be forwarded to another faculty and continued even after your tenure.
The institute is looking forward to applications from various fields that are already there, and possibly new ones such as:
Chemical Process Systems Engineering
Entrepreneurial Skill Development
In addition to the above mentioned points
Guidance in the domain of management/finance would also be of great help to us since expertise in these areas add value to any degree.
With a large number of students wanting to pursue Thesis, you will have the opportunity to guide them on their projects as well.
Rest/Recreation- The sabbatical program also ensures ample amount of time to enjoy with your family and friends in the serene deserts of Pilani, in the beaches of Goa, in the IT city Hyderabad and even the glitter of Dubai is there for your choice. The program could extend to all 4 campuses - a few months in each campus or an entire semester in one of the campuses.
Facilities- You would be enjoying the Visiting faculty status along with basic facilities being provided. The flexibilities and opportunities are immense; it is for you to have the experience of a lifetime.
Are you an alumnus and wish to contribute?

Dr. AP Mathur ('70) - Trustee "My sabbatical at BITS was a highly rewarding and enjoyable experience. I taught a Software Engineering class to about 80 brilliant undergraduates in state-of-the-art classroom facility that had just been inaugurated. Each day I had four meals of top quality at the BITS Guest House. I enjoyed the regular visits to the temple and meeting with people from all walks of life who I knew as a student and later as faculty member at BITS. Excellent internet connection and access to library facilities allowed me to complete one chapter of my book on software testing. BITS was an excellent host. The only negative of this visit was that I gained 15 pounds in one semester which took about an year to shrug off!”
