Dr. SP Kothari (’74) - Chairman & Trustee

S.P. Kothari serves as Global Head of Equity Research and is responsible for research supporting Barclays Global Investors' active equity strategies. Prior to joining BGI, S.P. was Deputy Dean and Gordon Y Billard Professor in Management at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Previously, he was the Head of the Department of Economics, Finance, and Accounting at the MIT Sloan School of Management. In 2005-06, he was Thomas Henry Carroll-Ford Visiting Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Dr. Kothari received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and is an editor of the Journal of Accounting & Economics (1997-present) , a world-renowned academic research journal in accounting. His research focuses on financial reporting and valuation, asset allocation, explaining the diversity in international accounting practices, use of employee stock options for compensating executives and accounting for stock options, evaluating investment performance, and corporate uses of derivatives for hedging and speculation. He served on the Board of Directors of Vicarious Visions (www.vvisions.com) from 1998-2004, and he was a Senior Consultant with Charles River Associates International (www.crai.com), a business-economics and litigation support consulting firm, for eight years. He has consulted with many large corporations, including leading US and international banks, Australian television broadcast corporations, US steel companies, E&Y, KPMG, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Raju is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Sierra Atlantic. He completed his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from BITS Pilani and followed it up with a M.S.in Computer Science from Virginia Tech. He worked at Intel for over 10 years in "software development, marketing and general management" before moving on to create "one of the top 75 most Admired companies in Silicon Valley, Top 25 great places to work in India and Top 10 best employers in South China" in Sierra Atlantic. Among other things, Raju serves as a member of the BITS Pilani Board of Directors, a Charter member of TiE Silicon Valley, Board of Trustees for Puente, a Wharton School non-profit program and more recently the India Community Center, Milpitas
 
Viggy Mokkarala (’76) - Trustee

Viggy is currently the EVP (Client Implementations) at Envestnet Advisory Corp. He completed hi B.E. in Electrical Engineering from BITS Pilani (76F06385) between 1976 and 1980. He followed it up with a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and continued to work with Applied Materials, Silicon Graphics, and Hewlett-Packard. He co-founded Oberon Financial Technology, a pioneer in asset management software, which he grew from $10 million to $1.6 billion by 2004.
 
Brij Bhushan (’65) - Trustee

Brij is currently retired from Reston Consulting Group, which he founded in 1986. RCG provides Systems Integration services in the field of telecommunications to the US Federal Government. Brij graduated from BITS Pilani in 1965 and subsequently taught there from 1966 to 1969 and had a return engagement during Fall of 2006. Brij holds a Masters from Auburn University (1970) and has completed course work towards Doctor of Engg in EE at Concordia University, Montreal Canada. Brij and his wife Champa (also a BITS alumn) live in the suburbs of Washington DC and have three grown up children Anju, Anita and Anup.

Punita holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from BITS, Pilani and a master's degree in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. Punita splits time between Noida, India and San Jose, California.

Chandra has 29+ years of global experience in entrepreneurship, management consulting, general management, marketing and sales in USA, India, Canada, Australia, Singapore and Middle East. He is also an adjunct management faculty at BITS Pilani, senior advisor for POA Educational Foundation (www.poafoundation.org) and executive advisor at Karma Candy Inc. in Canada. Niranjan Bose (’92) - Trustee

Niranjan works as a Business Analyst with the Infectious Diseases team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle. Prior to joining the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, he was with SDG Life Sciences, a unit of IMS Health, where he was a Senior Consultant and assisted clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries with strategy development, valuations, research validation and forecasting. Niranjan holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Dartmouth College and an MS in biological sciences and BS in pharmaceutical sciences from BITS, Pilani. His doctoral thesis was on cholera pathogenesis, with a focus on developing the assembly mechanism for an attachment factor, which is currently being targeted as a vaccine target. He also received the Business Bridge Diploma from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

He has deep expertise in product marketing, business model innovation, pricing, product management, post merger integration, business process transformation, and marketing transformation. He has published several thought leadership articles on high tech product management, marketing & strategy methodologies. He performs pro-bono consulting work in the area of brand strategy for non-profit organizations in the bay area. Krishna Hegde (’96) - Trustee

Krishna works in the credit strategy team at Barclays Capital, New York. Before joining Barclays, Krishna handled a similar role at Lehman Brothers. He earned his MBA (with distinction) from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 2006 and was an Edward Tuck scholar. From BITS, he joined Hindustan Unilever as a Business Leadership Trainee and subsequently worked as an IT manager handling business intelligence systems for sales and supply chain. At Pilani, he did his BE (Hons) in Computer Science and his ID number was 96A7PS034. He lives in New Jersey with his wife Priya. Krishna co-founded BITS2Bschool and coordinated the public-relations efforts within India for BITSConnect.

Dr. Ashok Agarwal is a Gold medalist in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani and did his Masters and Doctoral Programme from University of Minnesota. He started his career with Bell Telephone Laboratories followed by Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta as a Professor of MIS during 1969 to 1986.,visiting professor at Northeastern University ,Boston USA and visiting research scholar and Ford Fellow at Sloan School , MIT USA and University of Minnesota. As an entrepreneur, from 1986 onwards Dr. Agarwal was involved in setting up various IT organizations in India in software products , software services and training , IT publications and IT infrastructure Two of the companies were listed on Stock Exchange in India and one in USA . Currently involved with several academic institutions and companies on their Board. Sanjay Khendry (1982-87, Physics-EEE) is secretary of BITSAA Hyderabad. Sanjay has 23 years of experience in the IT industry in International and India sales, marketing, account & partner management, software development, public relations and general management roles, working with clients globally. Currently, as Vice-President with Sierra Atlantic, he is handling the Indian market for the company. Sierra Atlantic is Silicon Valley headquartered IT Services Company specialized in providing Enterprise Application and Outsourced Product Development services. Prior to Sierra Atlantic, Sanjay handled sales and product management at Wings Infonet Limited (1992-94). Earlier (1987-92) he was with National Information Technologies Limited - A joint venture of Press Trust of India and MP State Electronics Development Corporation in software development, system integration and technology roles. An avid amateur photographer and a Rotarian, Sanjay is passionate about creating and enhancing options in basic school education for the under-privileged.

His expertise includes providing Vision and outlining Technology Roadmap for complex products and applications. Aalap is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Embedded Systems Co-design Group at Texas A&M University, College Station. He graduated from BITS Pilani Goa Campus in 2008 with a B.E. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE). At BITS, Aalap has held a host of leadership positions - co-founded and led the Center for Software Development as Student Cordinator, EEE Student's Association as President, Team BITSAA (Executive Committee for Goa Campus) as Founder Secretary and BITS Embryo as the first Campus Manager. He was also the Co-Editor for "Sizzling Sands - 2007", the annual Goa Campus magazine and an Advisor to the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL). He has also been a founding member of "Abhigyaan" - the on-campus literacy program, NSS which conducted the largest Blood Donation Drive in Goa (2005), and BITS 360 (http://www.bits360.com). At BITSAA International, Aalap has worked as a Volunteer, Manager and Director of BITSAA's Technology Team.

Arun is an Energy Market Analyst at Dominion Resources. He currently supports Dominions lobbying efforts with analysis to determine the financial impact of climate change legistlation on electric utilities, his past included working in commodities trading desks, and working with a stock broker in India. In BITS, he was the Secretary of Dance Club, co-ord for Dance Workshop. Arun graduated from BITS, Pilani in 2001 with a M.Sc(Tech) in General Studies. He obtained an MS in Quantitative Financial Economics from Oklahoma State University. Arun is based out of Richmond, VA with his wife (Deepa Devadas, a BITS Dubai ('01) alum). In his spare time, you can find him trekking/biking along the James river in Richmond.

Kaushik is currently working at Cypress Semiconductor, San Jose, California as Product Applications Engineer, focusing on new product definition, applications development and technical marketing. He graduated from BITS Pilani in 2006 with Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Masters in Physics. While at BITS, he was a member of the Corroboration & Review Committee and actively involved in the activities of the Students' Union. He was among the first few students to participate in the Practice School Program in the Silicon Valley and has been working for the BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter (BITSAA SVC) ever since. Rajesh is President & Managing Member at Ceera Investments, LLC, a registered investment advisory firm that manages investment portfolios for individuals, trusts, pensions, and corporations. Prior to founding Ceera Investments, LLC in 2005, Rajesh began his career in investment management and research when he joined the Burnham Financial Group's Houston office in 1998. At Burnham, as Investment Analyst, and later as Associate Managing Director, Rajesh helped manage assets for high net worth clients. Rajesh has also held several marketing positions at the Medical Equipment Division of Larsen & Toubro Ltd in Mumbai, India. Rajesh currently serves as a Trustee, BITSAA Intl, and the Chief Investment Officer of BITSAA Investment Committee that oversees the investment fund of BITSAA. At BITS, he was actively involved in Oasis'91 (as STUCCAN, Art n Dee), Oasis'92 (as Ex-Officio STUCCAN), and in Apogee. He is a Charter Member of TiE Houston and a Member of the Board of The Marthannie Music Conservatory College Preparatory School, Houston. He is also a member of the Houston Society of Financial Analysts, the CFA Institute, the World Affairs Council (Houston), and the Houston Entrepreneurs Forum. Rajesh graduated from BITS, Pilani in 1993 with a B.E. (Hons) in Electrical & Electronics and an M.Sc. (Hons) in Physics. In 1998, he obtained an MBA (Finance) from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, New Orleans. Rajesh is based out of Houston with his wife (Deepa Poduval, a BITS ('94) alum) and daughter, Aashna.

Uzma (aka Uzi) is a Software Developer at D.E.Shaw & Co. and has experience in developing investment management solutions. She graduated from BITS, Pilani in 2007 with a B.E. (Hons.) Computer Science. She is an Associate Editor of Sandpaper 2.0. Uzma is passionate about technology and entrepreneurship and has recently started delving into finance especially hedge funds and asset management. At BITS, Uzma was involved in a host of activities. She was the Vice President at the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) and led the Networks domain of CEL .She co-founded the IBM-BITS Linux Club. She was also a member of the Election Commission, English Drama Club and the Swimming Club and a Group Leader at the Department of Photography. Uzma likes dabbling in quizzing and music in her spare time.

Vivek Iyer is a Senior Systems Engineer at MediaFLO USA in San Diego and enjoys working on streaming multimedia over wireless networks. He studied Electronics and Instrumentation at BITS Pilani, after which he came to Arizona State University to pursue his Masters in Electrical Engineering. During his four years in Pilani, Vivek played an active role in the Department of Controlz, the Corroboration and Review Committee (CRC) and the Academic Registration and Counseling (ARC) Division. Vivek has been managing BITSAA Sandpaper 2.0 website as its webmaster for the past few years. He is also a member of the core technology team for the BITSAA website. In his spare time, Vivek enjoys exploring new gadgets, multimedia technologies and biking.

Raghu (aka Prof) is currently working with the Godrej group as a Senior Executive , handling engineering services in the group’s Oleo chemicals business. Nagi is currently pursuing PhD in Sydney University on Modeling Community Perceptions of Large Capital Projects Using Soft Computing Techniques. He has been involved in a professional capacity in Information Technology, Market Research, Operations Research and Consulting work in Europe, India and Australia for over 35 years. He has managed diverse projects and studies, authored many reports and published a few papers. He did his BE Telecom in BITS Pilani (1961-66), Diploma in Computer Techniques in PII Eindhoven Netherlands (1966-68) and MSc (Management Studies) in Imperial College Business School London (1970-71).Back in BITS, he was the Secretary of Students Union (1963-64) and Founder Editor of BITS BEAT, Campus Newsletter (1964-65). He was also the Co-founder/Advisor of Bitsunami and Co-ordinator of Practice School in Bitsunami (2005-07).He is interested in sustainable development and renewable energy.
 
Shashikant Khandelwal (’97) - Founder & President, BITSEmbryo

Shashikant(Khandoo) co-founded BITSEmbryo along with his 1997 batch BITSian classmates, and led the team from idea inception to building an Embryo Club on campus to run this project. In 2 years, Embryo has conducted 80 lectures via video-conferencing, some of them simultaneously across Pilani, Goa and Dubai campuses with an attendance of over 500 students. Shashikant is also a Founding Member and Chief Architect at TheFind Inc, a startup in shopping search with more than 10 million visitors per month. At TheFind, Shashikant has been involved in venture funding, product innovation (5 patents pending), and building a scalable search engine. Shashikant has been involved in BITSAA-SVC since 2003 in various roles. He is from the 1997 BE(Hons) CS batch at BITS and 2004 MSCS batch at Stanford. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife Shilpa, also a BITSian and a member of Embryo founding team.

After graduating from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) - Goa Campus (2005-2009, Information Systems), Sutirtha is partnered with PondyCan in Pondicherry. He will be assisting the creation of sustainable infrastructure solutions. As a student, Sutirtha was an active volunteer with NGOs enabling self-empowerment. Sutirtha also cherishes his 2008 summer internship at the Vikram Sarabhai Science Center making young people enthusiastic about science. Most recently, he has managed his international alumni association\'s social front, BITS.aid, partnering with NGOs on development issues concerning India. Sutirtha believes that true change must begin at the grassroots level and he wants to fully live this message. He is as much in awe by the economics of Jeffery Sachs as by the magical riffs of Pink Floyd.

Stueti is currently working in Asia Technology Innovation Center at John Deere India Pvt Ltd. She entered BITS in 2000 with MSc Phy and graduated with a dual in Mechanical Engineering. She was closely associated with BITS Physics Society since first year and held leadership positions as secretary of BITS Astronomy Club and BITS Physics society. She returned to BITS to do a Master’s in Design Engineering. She taught in BITS for almost three year as a TA and then later Assistant Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department. She also served as PS I faculty for two summers. It was during her master’s at BITS, Project Embryo was initiated and she coordinated the project from on-campus. Almost seventy lectures were successfully delivered under her leadership. After seven years on-campus she went to Cornell University for a year and a half for further research in mechanical design

Vinodh graduated out of BITS Pilani in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he worked for an IT consulting firm in Bangalore as a Program Manager and then decided to stir things up in life and join a startup. At BITS, he was a part of the Department of Controlz. Vinodh has been involved with BITSAA previously in the BITS branding initiatives and BITS.Aid. Meenakshi Chatterjee (’00) - Chief Editor, Sandpaper 2.0

Meenakshi is a skilled member of the Hardware Design Engineering group at 3PAR Inc, California. She has been a part of system design, bringup and debug for the past two and half years now. Prior to 3PAR, she had been working with Nvidia in the Platforms team. Electronics had always been her passion. Getting a degree in Physics and EEE from BITS, Pilani was the first step in following her passion. A Master's in UCLA followed next. While on campus, Meenakshi had been a prolific writer. The bug of short stories had bit her in her second year and since then it has been incurable. She had won prizes for her stories in BITS from Languages group and then at Los Angeles in Henry Krunitz Creative Writing competition. English Press Club, Poetry Club, Moruchhaya (Bengali Association), Physics Assoc, EEE Assoc were where Meenakshi remained a faithful member and a regular contributor. She had been contributing short stories to Sandpaper since 2005 and came on the editorial team in 2007. Currently she is leading the effort for the upcoming Winter issue.

Better known as SVS, I’m an instruite from the 2002 batch. After graduating in 2006, I joined Infosys Technologies and worked for a year during which I realized software is not my cup of tea. So now, I’m doing my masters in bioengineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. Back in BITS, I was part of backstage and an active member of EDC. I headed the crew as prod man for a year. I also worked on the editorial team for the instrumentation magazine. I’m currently involved in organizing cultural events for the Fine Arts Society of India at UTA. Vishrut has been active with BITSAA at BITS, Pilani - Goa Campus right from establishment to shaping the way it works in campus today. He has served the Association as the Founder Jt. Secretary and later took over as the highest student designatory in the form of the Secretary of BITSAA Executive Committee (Goa Campus). One of the initiators of the BITS Embryo project at the Goa Campus back in his second year, he has been awarded by the Director, (Late) Prof. T. C. Goel for coordinating the activites of the Centre for Software Development till his 7th semester. He loves designing and had been administering the Goa Campus website and student servers right from his first year onwards. Vishrut serves on the teams of 'Let's Promote BITS Pilani' and '100% Placements' initiatives apart from primarily the Technology team and often designs attractive posters for various BITSAA projects for print and cyber usage. Vishrut, who has finished his final semester PS-2 in Yahoo! Labs - Bangalore and is working at Cisco Systems, Bangalore as a Software Engineer now shares a dream alike everyone here in making BITS, Pilani the most sought-after institute in the world!

I am Satish Polisetti (aka sat~p - hmm, people seldom call me this, but etiquette dictates everyone to have a BITSian name), from the ebullient batch of 2002. I graduated with a Dual Degree in Electrical & Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. I completed my semester long internships in Qualcomm-Bangalore, Cypress - San Jose, and currently employed with Infineon Technologies as an Engineer, in the Silicon Plateau of India. At Pilani, my leadership positions include Joint Coordinator for Mechanical Association, Executive Committee Member of Recreational Activity Forum and Member, Department of Sponsorship & Marketing in the initial years. I voluntarily presented few BITS branding lectures to aspirants at my +2 college. But the true ardor of "Giving back to BITS” nurtured during my term as Joint Editor for BITSAA Annual Year Book, Batch 2002, when I realized publishing and writing were channels to reach the largest alumni community with prospective objectives of BITSAA. As Associate Editor, Sandpaper 2.0, am associated with several activities such as producing articles, designing cover pages, drafting cover stories, editing stuff, and I love doing them. In addition, am also handling bunch of BITSAA Newsletter tasks.

Himanshu graduated from BITS, Pilani - Goa Campus in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is currently working as an Associate Analyst in the Analytics division of HSBC. Back at BITS, he had been a part of the BITSAA Executive Committee since its inception at the Goa Campus and also served as its highest student designatory as the Secretary. At BITS he engaged himself with English Press Club, Management and Philately associations. Vignesh took up running when he was working in Chennai and was a part of the Chennai Runners club. Sindhu Anand graduated from BITS Pilani in 2008 with M.Sc (Hons) Biological Sciences and B.E. (Hons) Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She is currently at Arizona State Univeristy, USA doing her PhD in Bioengineering. Specializing in Neural Engineering, she is developing MEMS systems for neural implants. At BITS, she was part of Department of Controlz, the English Drama Club, SPIC MACAY, and was the Sandpaper 2.0 Pilani, team lead as well. Her most serious and probably the most challenging role was with the Constitution Review and Ammendment Committee (CRAC) in overhauling the administration of the messes. She was one of the co-founders of Vita Beans Neural Solutions Pvt. Ltd., one of the first undergraduate start-ups from BITS Pilani. Along with Amruth and Nakul from the Vita team she has won internationally renowned business plan contests such as Conquest and Eureka (IIT Mumbai). He was one of the few who got vertical transfer from chemical to E & I. He played a major role in the success of Zephyr-08 .His contribution towards Abhigyaan as a coordinator is remarkable. He along with his team managed to provide hospitality and info services to around 800 odd delegates across the world during ICER’08. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a job at Infosys in 2001 where he worked for over four years. Subsequently, he went on to complete his MBA from National University of Singapore Business School where he served as the President of the NUS MBA Students Council. Rohit is currently pursuing a MS/Ph.D in Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he is also the core member of the Student ACM body and the Campus representative for Mozilla foundation. A 2006 CS graduate from BITS Pilani, he worked with Oracle India, Bangalore for three years in their Security and Identity management (IDM) group where he was awarded Special contribution and Innovation awards for two consecutive years. Back in BITS, he served as the Secretary of Network Security Forum (NSF) and a Core member of the Department of Lights while simultaneously holding core positions in other regional associations (Kongposh, PCA). He also conducted workshops on computer security for CS and IS Associations during APOGEE 2006 and won prizes in programming and paper presentation contests. A sound believer in Nash equilibrium and the theory "classes can dull your mind, destroy the potential for authentic creativity", he seems to think Aliens exist and Schroedinger's cat is not dead! He is also a fan of Rubics Cube, Federer, Arsenal, John Nash and the fictional Maths professor Charles Eppes (Numb3rs) and considers his Alan Turing Coffee Mug to be his most prized possession.When not pretending to solve CS problems in his head, he is most likely to be found trapped in Physics and Maths or contemplating about nature and the universe (in that order).

Now he is a MBA Candidate for 2010 in Said Business School, University of Oxford. Rahul has been a spectacular poet, a stellar tennis player, DOTS (Department of Theatre) Coordinator and a enthused CompSci student. Harish, infamously known as Bushu at BITS Goa, is an Instruite from the 2006 batch at Goa campus, and is currently in his psenti sem. Harish is passionate about entrepreneurship (declared a holder of one of the "Top 20 Entrepreneurial Ideas of India" at the Entrepeurship Summit '09 at IIT Bombay) and Sustainable Development (conferred the Global Urban Habitat Fellowship 2009 at the World Urban Habitat Summit, New Delhi). Anurag (‘pink’ or 123 for his friends) is pursuing M.Sc. (Hons) Economics with B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering as his dual. In Goa campus, he has been associated with the sponz club for the Technical festival Quark, has been a part of the CAD (creativity and design) for CEL (centre for entrepreneurship) and deeply associated with the Economics Association and its events in Quark. Having being trained to play tabla since he was 10, he was one of the percussionists for the Music Club and performed on various occasions in the campus. This made him one of the percussionists for a band called ‘hiccups’, which uses only non-conventional instruments and performed at the ‘Sunset Fiesta-09’ in Goa. He has done a state of the art technology project on Radio frequency collocation solutions and interned at Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad which created his interest in SME empowerment. Apart from white water rafting, rappelling and indulging in late night ‘art appreciation’ sessions, he likes reading Paul Krugman’s column, Open Editorial in ‘The Hindu’ and autobiographies. She worked for 2.5 years as a Software Engineer at United Online, Hyderabad in a team run by 3 bitsians (yes, mini BITS Hyderabad started long back for us). Then kept hopping in and out of companies like Goldman Sachs, NVIDIA and Akamai Technologies. At BITS, she tried hardcore to get an appealing menu into Meera Bhavan as the Mess Secretary. Last heard (from someone who mysteriously looks just like her ;-)), she was successful. She serves as the Co-President of Aggie Women in Computer Science, an ACM-W Chapter. She is also a volunteer with Association for India Development (AID) TAMU and New York Cares (she built homes, walked dogs, read to kids, painted walls and pulled out weeds at local parks all in the name of community service). She is a community blogger for Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and an Open Source developer with Apache Software Foundation. She loves comedy and drama (she is addicted to reality television). She is often found climbing rocks, running around till she goes breathless/thirsty (whichever happens first), lounging at airports (loves traveling), poking on facebook (she is very sociable), reading and writing random stuff, dancing on and off stage and staring at black vim terminals. She has been a part of leading media groups like The HINDU and has worked towards increasing environmental awareness through various non-profits in India (IYCN) and across the world (2041.com). An ever-enthusiastic Dance Club member at BITS, she tries to keep up her zeal for dancing by performing in theatrical plays and dances at fund raisers and charity events. She was the Sports Secretary for Meera Bhavan while at college and used to enjoy being a part of NSS. Aishwarya Raghavan holds Master of Management Studies and M.Sc. (Finance) from BITS. She currently works in the Product Management Group at Saint Gobain. She also has the experience of having worked in a few start-ups. While at BITS, Art n Dee- Structure side was her identity. Besides that, she had also served the Management Association as Vice-President. She enjoys reading and occasionally writes. Fitness is her new-found obsession and she hopes to run a marathon someday. Shailendra Gupta(’07) is currently pursuing his B.E. (Hons.) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering at BITS-PILANI, Goa Campus. Working on the simple ideology that "By any means Work will be done...the only thing which matters is that you are a part of it or not...”, he loves doing all kind of work altruistically. In his first year, along with his friends, he jointly organized Kite Flying Competition for the very first time in the campus. He was the co-founder of Book Bank at Goa Campus. He worked as the Food Management Department Head for ICER - 08 (International Conference on Environmental Research). Inducted as a member of Team BITSAA, logistics department, he contributed to Melange, Yearbook ’05 as an Editor and Yearbook’06 as Chief Editor. He worked as Deputy Event Manager for VLSI Design Contest, Quark 2009 (Annual Technical Festival of BITS - Pilani, Goa) and as Joint Coordinator, Information Management Department, Quark 2010. He also worked as Practice School - 1 Student Representative for 2007 Batch. In his 4th year at campus, he will be working as Team Leader – Campus Relations, Goa Campus. P Raghavendra Datta is known more as 'PRD' or 'Wiki' than by his original name - the second nickname 'conferred' because he reads Wikipedia articles 'for fun'. He is a 5th year student of M.Sc(Hons) Mathematics and B.E (Hons) Chemical Engineering at the Goa Campus. He has varied interests, ranging from politics, policy implementations and economics to the evolution of rock music and b-boy culture. At BITS, he was Core committee member of the Department of Journalism and Media Affairs and worked as Chief Correspondent for Media and PR. He was also a member of the Department of Publicity and Public Relations and the Literary and Debating Club and loves late night debates. He is a quiz and trivia addict. When he is not busy tweeting or blogging as Social Media Manager at LetMeKnow.in, a tech startup, he spends his time reading - favorites being Ayn Rand and Robert Ludlum, listening to music - anything from Megadeth to M.S.Subbulakshmi, or kicks back with a movie. He is a movie buff and absolutely adores Quentin Tarantino and Francis Coppola.

In the past he has been a part of the startup PhokatCopy, as well as the Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi. He is a true techie at heart and loves to spend his free time hacking up Perl scripts. At BITS, he helped revive the dying Department of Reporting and Networking (which funnily enough, died again after his time) and had a short stint with Backstage. I did my PS-1 @Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, and PS-2 for a year @Oracle India Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore. I was one of the prominent founding members of Music Club (now the Music Society) in Goa Campus as a keyboardist. I completed 2nd Grade in Electronic Keyboard from Trinity College of Music, London. I also played an important role in the Mime Club at Goa Campus as a musician. I love Yoga, and I also got the title 'Yoga Ratna' from Divine Life Society, Chennai. Rohit Ratnaparkhi is presently pursuing a B.E (Hons) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from BITS-Pilani, Dubai. Apart from being a part of major BITSAA initiatives like the BITS 360 and BITS Embryo, he is also the Lead for the LPBP Team for the UAE Section. In addition to this he is the Cultural Head for his Year at the Student Council. He has also worked in Texas Instruments, Bangalore as a part of his PS2 program. At BITS he has held various leadership posts. He was actively involved with the Dramatics club of which he was a founding member and subsequently the Coordinator. He was also a core member and the Treasurer of ENIGMA, the EnI Association in campus. He has also been an Event Manager for all Dramatics events of Waves 2008, the annual national cultural festival of BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. But his most prized achievement, he feels is organizing, coordinating and conducting Abhinaya - a cultural performance of Drama and Mime representing BITS Pilani Goa Campus to the Goan Navy fraternity at the Rajhans Navy Auditorium in Goa. Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree from BITS-Pilani and is an active member at Arbeitskreis Kultur und Sprachen Indiens (AKSI) e.V. in Munich. He is an active volunteer at ISKCON and also enjoys doing spiritual service. His interests include trekking, swimming, jogging, inline skating, cycling, exploring new places and watching movies. He played a key role in the organizational development and sustainability of the organization for the last 5 years. Nirmaan (www.nirmaan.org) is now a registered Not-for-profit organization focusing on providing education and livelihood opportunities to the unprivileged people across the country with teams at BITS-Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad campuses, and at Hyderabad, Bangalore etc., with 500 BITSians involved out of 750 registered members of the organization. At Pilani, he has pursued his various interests by being a member of English Press Club for APOGEE, took initiatives like SUNRISE, an e-newsletter & discussion forum, a core member of Mechanical Engineering Association by involving in projects like Solar Car etc., and also, pursued his passion for dancing by giving performances through Dance Workshop by Dance Club. This initiative aims at educating children who are devoid of the educational facilities due to unfortunate circumstances. Abhishek Chandna (aka abhi) is currently pursuing his dual degree in MSc (Hons.) Chemistry and B.E. (Hons) EEE in the Hyderabad Campus. The past one year at BITS has been an enriching experience for him .Be it Pearl, Foundation Day, Or Science Day, he tried his level best in being an active participant in all of them. An energetic and cheerful person, Utkarsh joined the Campus Relations Team in August 2009, right after being inducted into the Bitsian family. He shares the passion of the Campus Relations Team i.e. to enhance the relationship between Bitsians, all over the globe, and their Alma Mater. Rachit Chandra is doing B.E.(Hons.) in Computer Science from Pilani Campus. He grew up in Arunachal Pradesh and thanks his mother for making him an ardent reader. At BITS, he was the President of CEL. He also contested for post of the President of SU but (in) famously came second to 'None of the Above'. He is passionate about eliminating poverty through enterprise. In his last assignment, he used Google Maps (and some 'jugaad') to increase the efficiency of loan officers at a micro-finance company. Rachit is the only person to be a Goldman Sachs Global Leader (Class of 2008) and an Aditya Birla Scholar (Batch of 2006). He loves traveling cheap, reading books about post-1947 India and tasting wine.

Piyush Kaushal is currently pursuing his Bachelors in Electronics & Instrumentation at Pilani campus. He can be best described as a workaholic and perfectionist. He has been an extremely active member of the Dept. of Controlz. Piyush introduced a computerized system for registration of participants for Oasis and Apogee and was also instrumental in getting ISO certification for APOGEE. He organized and participated in cultural events as an ex-com member of the Punjabi Cultural Association and is a founding member and ex-president of Symposiarch (The Debating Society) at BITS-Pilani. He has participated and won B-Plan competitions, case study competition etc. and was a member of the Student Aid Fund too. His other activities on campus include being a member of the BOSM Power Lifting and Athletics teams. Madhukar Banuri is a senior Fellow at Teach For India. He works as a class teacher in a low-income municipal school in Pune, trying to decrease the inequity existing between his students and their rich peers, using the best known teaching practices and content from around the world. At TFI he is also a fellow-advisor for the fresh fellows. Prior to TFI, Madhukar was a Product Marketing Manager at Larsen & Toubro in Mumbai. At L&T he introduced a new product line and was responsible for its sales and profitability. A 2003 batch engineer of Electrical & Electronics, he was the Treasurer of EEE Association and the Co-ordinator of Dance Workshop. Nishant ( or 'Rasta', as he is known on campus) is a fourth yearite at BITS Pilani, Goa pursuing a dual degree in MSc.(hons) Economics and B.E.(hons) Mechanical engineering. In his last 3 years of college, he has consistently managed to do 'everything' else apart from studying. An avid dramatist, he's been an active member of the Dramatics Club, and served as the Sub-Coordinator of the club in his 3rd year. He loves photography and is the co-founder of the Photography club. He's been a part of the organizing team of SPREE (the annual national sports festival of BITS Goa) for the last 3 years. He conceptualized and organized a marathon in campus as part of SPREE 2009 and raise around Rs 1 lakh for HelpAge India and Nirmaan. Uday Kiran (aka Udki) is currently working in the Autonomic Systems and e-Business platforms group in Barcelona Supercomputing Center in Spain. He has previously developed innovative software solutions and applications during his tenure at IBM India Software Labs and INSEAD Business School in France. He is very passionate about entrepreneurship especially in technology, retail and social sector. He graduated from BITS Pilani with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. While at BITS, he was the Senior Vice President of Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, one of the top five entrepreneurship clubs in India and was instrumental in scaling up Conquest, a business plan competition from national to international scale. Well my name sounds confusing to many, but nevertheless they still call me Aqsa! I pursued my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Mathematics from BITS, Pilani-Pilani Campus. I hail from Srinagar and did my schooling from Presentation Convent School. At BITS, I was a part of the Hindi Drama Club; acted and was part of the production team. I did my PS-2 at HAL, Bangalore. While in Bangalore I worked as a volunteer for BITSAA’s 100 % placement initiative. A voracious reader- my interests vary from Poetry to Literature, Fiction and Economics. A lover of nature- I enjoy capturing it too!! Traveling, listening to music and writing are my other interests. However my most cherished time is all the fun filled moments I spend with my friends and family.
