Student Enrichment Fund Awards / Grants for Student Projects, Tuition and Travel Scholarships The tuition fee at BITS (like everywhere else in India) is sky-rocketing! Current students pay approx 1.5 Lakh INR per year and this number will probably go up in coming years. Many deserving and meritorious students need our help. Generous donations to this fund not only help in creating tuition scholarships but also helps BITSAA promote student research by funding innovative student projects (many of which have won laurels for BITS and India) and student travel for paper presentations in International conferences. [Click here to see current scholarships and their impact.] The following are supported via this fund:
1.Student Projects Fund : (PROJECT ID: SE001)
BITS students are participating in top International Engineering Design competitions (and winning!) This fund will provide seed funding for such projects to get started.
2.Tuition Scholarships : (PROJECT ID: SE002)
This fund will help students in need to make sure they are able to continue their studies.
3. Travel Grants : (PROJECT ID: SE003)
This fund will support student travel for paper presentations at international conferences.
Faculty Enrichment Fund Awards / Grants for Faculty Research and Travel Scholarships BITS is dreaming big, as is evident from the announcement of project "Parivartan” by the Chancellor of BITS on November 13, about the growth plan of BITS and the modernization of the Pilani campus. For BITS to continue to grow, it needs a renewed focus on research. BITS has already taken several steps in this regard by increasing the number of higher degree candidates (MS/PhD) and subsidizing their tuition fee (other than giving stipends/scholarships). Few chair professorships have been announced by the Chancellor and a few more have been funded by the alumni. With this vision in mind, this fund will help fund the following activities:
1. Young Faculty Excellence Award : (PROJECT ID: FE001)
This award recognizes a BITS faculty from one of the four campuses for excellence in inspiring and engaging teaching that stimulates discovery and inquiry, in research and innovative projects, and in their professional achievements and commitment towards BITS. The first such award was instituted with a generous grant by Kris Ramachandran ('67, Pilani) and comprises of a rolling plaque, a citation, and a cash award of INR 100,000.
2. Endowed Chairs : (PROJECT ID: FE002)
A one-time endowment of Rs. 44,00,000 will endow a named chair (donor to decide the name) for a period of 20 years. It can be done by an individual donor, an entire batch or even on behalf of your company. Chancellor Kumaramanglam Birla has kick started this program by creating 7 Endowed Chairs funded by the Birla family. Class of 1981 has funded 1 chair in BITS, Hyderabad. A detailed document is available on request.
3. Research Endowment : (PROJECT ID: FE003)
The idea is to build a research corpus at pilani that could be used for a multitude of research activities by BITS faculty via #1 and #2 above. This initiative is being championed by the 1985 Batch and is supported by BITSAA
