The Ram Niwas Yadav Scholarship has been established to provide merit-based scholarship to students in need of financial aid.
The scholarship honors a distinguished alumnus of BITS Pilani. Originally, a native of Jawa, Haryana, Mr. Yadav graduated from the university in 1961 with an MSc in Mathematics. From 1961 until 1965, Mr. Yadav also served as an Instructor in the Mathematics Department of BITS Pilani.
Mr. Yadav obtained his Master in Mathematics from SUNY, Buffalo in 1967 and completed course work towards a Ph.D from New York University. In 1968 he joined Essex County College, ultimately retiring in 2009 after a forty year career as a Professor. He currently resides in Manalapan, New Jersey.
Scholarship Details:
- Type of Scholarship: Merit cum need based
- Amount: 80% of tuition fees
- No of scholarships: 2, at least one for Mathematics Major
- Minimum GPA requirement: Need to maintain 6 on 10 to remain eligible
- Date of Commencement: Semester 1, 2011-2012
- Campus: Pilani
- Extra consideration is given to students from the rural areas of Haryana, Rajastan, UP or Bihar.

1) Aayush Singal
I
am extremely thankful to donor, Mr. Yadav for providing me with
scholarship .
I am a second year student pursuing B.E. (Hons.) Electrical and Electronics program
in BITS-Pilani. I belong to middle class family and my parents work very hard
to fulfill my dreams. Therefore this large financial aid has relieved the
financial burden on my parents.
This
grants me the opportunity to focus more on higher studies and other life goals.
I want to go for higher studies and go for a M.Sc. degree in Wireless Communication
Systems. I thank BITSAA and all the donors for encouraging students. I hope
that one day I too will be able to encourage students to achieve their goals
just as BITSAA has helped me.
2) Chirag Bansal
I
am Chirag Bansal, a second year student pursuing M.Sc. Economics and 
Computer
Science Engineering at BITS Pilani - Pilani campus. I come from a middle class
family based in Sirsa, Haryana where my father runs a small footwear firm. My
family has a very nominal income and this scholarship makes a lot of difference
to us. I
would like to thank R.N. Yadav sir for this scholarship and all my seniors and
colleagues who helped me at every stage in BITS.
