R.P. Vaid

The R. P. Vaid Award was instituted by the alumni in honour of Prof. Vaid. The first award coincided with Prof. Vaid's retirement. A cash prize of Rs. 5,000 is awarded to a deserving Chemical Engineering student, studying in Pilani campus.

2012 Jasneet Singh

Jasneet Singh is a Chemical Engineering (B.E. HONS) student from BITS, Pilani. His research interests include process Modelling and simulation. He has done various research projects on simulation with the application of software like ASPEN Plus, COMSOL and Fluent. During Apogee 2012 he worked on the performance analysis of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions using fly ash as an absorbent and designed a prototype control system for the prevention of BLEVE Blast in reactors. He did his internship with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited; Mumbai refinery .He has held the responsibility of Vice –Chairperson, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) BITS-Pilani students’ chapter. Under his leadership IIChE organized CHEMxSERE 2011, the annual technical festival for chemical engineers in BITS-Pilani and planned an industrial trip to IOCL, Panipat refinery. He is also a part of the organizing team for SCHEMCON 2012 , the annual Students’ Chemical Engineering Congress. He worked as an Event Coordinator for the event CHEM-e-CAR during Apogee 2012. His hobbies include performing cultural dance (Bhangra) , collecting stamps and reading general knowledge books.

2011 Ayush Kanwar

Ayush Kanwar is a Chemical Engineering student from BITS, Pilani. He has worked on research projects in the field of carbon credits and carbon footprints. He worked on the effects of B10 Diesel on elastomer performance during Apogee 2011. He has held positions of responsibility with Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL): Coordinator of Epsilon 2011, BITS Model United Nations (BITSMUN): Director of World festival organized by BITSMUN in association with UNIC in 2011. He has worked as an intern with Air India and Essar Oil and contributed his bit to the society via working with NGO-Toxic Links. His hobbies include reading technical and non technical magazines, philately ,numismatics ,drama and contemporary dance.
