Santha E. Iyer Scholarship is instituted by Suraj E. Krishnan, who graduated from BITS, Pilani in June 1993 in Physics and Chemical Engineering.
Suraj is currently a Management Consultant and resides in the US. He is proud to be a BITSian and is glad to have the opportunity to give back to his alma mater.
The Santha E. Iyer educational scholarship is initiated in memory of his mother Smt. Santha Iyer who fondly cherished the day that all girls across India would have full access to a holistic education. She believed that "Education for girls is the most critical foundation for a society to truly progress.” The scholarship is merit cum need based and is available only to female students from the Pilani campus.

- Type of Scholarship: Merit cum need based
- Amount: 40% of tuition fees
- No of scholarships: 1 student
- Minimum GPA requirement: Need to maintain 7.5 on 10 to remain eligible
- Date of Commencement: Semester 1, 2011-2012
- Campus: Pilani
- Awarded annually for 4 years of study to a girl student

I am Bhanu Priya and I am presently pursuing my 2nd year in M.Sc. (Hons) Biological Sciences 
and B.E.(Hons) in Computer Science at BITS-Pilani, Pilani Campus. I am very passionate about pursuing higher studies in the field of Biosciences, especially Medicine, which will help me contribute something to the society. I am an active member of the Biological Society of BITS-Pilani. My father works in defence. My parents have always supported me in all my endeavors till now but I did not want to depend on them completely in the future. This scholarship has helped reduce the financial load on my family. I am very grateful for this scholarship. I too believe in the education of girls and empowerment of Indian women. The objective of this scholarship has inspired me to do something for this cause in future. Thank you, Mr. Suraj and BITSAA for this scholarship.
