Project Description

* Started March of 2005 in Pilani
* Focussed on improving literacy levels and to provide quality and value based education to the underprivileged
* Initially started with a small number (5 children and 2 adults) in sky lawns of BITS Pilani campus; has undergone a massive transformation and currently benefits 60 people at Gyan Vihar
* Mathematics and Science are taught on alternate days from Monday to Friday. 15 minutes of each class is spent in narrating moral stories, teaching general knowledge, paper reading and a question and answer session
* Saturday’s sessions are spent on children skill building sessions (CSBS). Children are given an exposure to practical world through simple scientific experiments and encouraged to participate in various competitions like drawing, elocution and singing
* Adults are encouraged to focus on different aspects like opening a bank account, filling different forms and writing letters
* This project has been adopted by MYINDIA, a voluntary organization setup by students at BITS Pilani with a vision of a Developed India and particular focus on education and rural development
