Verba Maximus '14

Posted By Anjali Sinha, Friday, April 18, 2014

This February, BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus hosted the third edition of its annual Literary Festival, Verba Maximus, popularly known as VM. Presented by Campus Diarie; the fest saw colleges and universities from across the country participating in various literary based events.

The fest was held on 1st and 2nd February and continued throughout the day. VM’14 went National as it held regional rounds in the 4 cities of Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Winners of Debate and Spell Bee from zonals got direct entry into the National Finals. For the first time, VM also went multilingual with the Hindi Youth Sabha and the Telugu Pada Vinyasam being star attractions.

A tremendous turnout for all events was seen, as the writing event 'Picture Perspective' and the investigative journalism event 'Sherlocked' saw over 250 participants each turning up. Other events like 'Just a Minute (JAM)' and 'Words of a Feather' were deeply enjoyed by participants and audience alike.

VM’14 also saw distinguished authors Aroon Raman and Varun Agarwal who interacted with the students. The interactions were very well received by all the attendees. The stand-up comedy performed by Vipul Goel was also a huge hit among the attendees.

Overall, Verba Maximus was well planned and executed, and set high standards for literary events in the city. The organizers hope to have an even bigger and better fest next year.
