Fundraising Update

Posted By Shwetha Kailash, Tuesday, August 25, 2009

We from BITSAA International would like to thank you profusely for your efforts to help Anitha. The fund raising drive was jointly done by BITSAA International and the BITSAA Chennai chapter and it has been a grand success. We are extremely happy and thrilled to inform you that the target of 10K $ that we set has been reached . As true BITSians we have gone one step forward beating the target and BITSAA has raised ~$12K for Anitha Ashokan. Achieving this target in a record time of less than a week is no mean feat and all this would not have been possible without the unflinching support of the BITSian alum from all over the world.

Our Next steps :

  • We would be handing the funds raised to Anitha's parents. The funds will immediately be used to settle her current bills and plan out her next course of treatment. We will also be updating the donors on how their contribution is being put to use to treat Anitha.
  • We also had a lot of BITSians who volunteered to help Anitha, by offering to help her with medicines, contacts in pharma industries , hospitals etc. We are working with Anitha’s family in understanding her further course of treatment and will take the help from our BITSian contacts to reduce her overall medical expenses.
  • We will be consolidating the details of funds collected , the list of donors who have contributed for Anitha's fund and the overwhelming messages that some donors have left for Anitha and her family. These details will be sent to the BITSian universe and we would also publish the list of donors on the Wall of donors page , for posterity to reflect on your contribution and the difference you have made to a BITSian's life.

We will keep this blog updated on further developments in Anitha’s treatment and how she responds for the same.

Thank you once again and please continue to hold Anitha in your prayers.
