Anitha's status - an update

Posted By Shwetha C K, Thursday, November 05, 2009

BITSAA International is very happy to inform you that the money that was raised for Anitha Ashokan has reached the hands of her family. $12761 from the US account and $1960 from the India account was wired and Anitha’s family has received a sum of about Rs. 6.8 lakhs in their account. The money is being used to settle her outstanding bills for now. Anitha has been showing mild improvements and has been shifted to the Physical Medical and Rehab facility where she is receiving physio therapy and speech therapy apart to reviver her senses. The doctors are also hopeful and positive about her slow but steady recovery. Anitha’s parents are simply overwhelmed by the efforts and contribution from all of you and have profusely thanked her alumni network for lending a helping hand in her treatment. Please find below a touching note sent to us by her brother.

"....Thanks a lot for all your support, prayer and assistance for the recovery of Anitha Ashokan. Anitha is now in Physical Medicine and Rehab facility (PMR) and now there is a mild improvement and she is making reasonable eye contact. Occasionally there is emotional incontinence present in the form of crying also. The PMR unit is focusing on occupational therapies like cognitive perceptual function, sensory Motor Function, Speech and language delay and physiotherapy. We are putting our best efforts, resources and ensure that Anitha is getting the required timely treatment. The Doctors have stated that there is slow recovery and improvement in her condition.

We the entire family of Anitha are very thankful for you all. The moral support and assistance given by all of you give us the strength to fight out and save Anitha from the clutches of this disease. Above all, with your kind wishes, love and support we sincerely hope that the Almighty will listen to all your prayers and bless her with speedy recovery. Once again, I thank all of you for the support and assistance and I shall keep you informed about her recovery and improvement. "
Thanks and Regards,
  Anand Ashokan

We from BITSAA International would once again like to extend our thanks to the alumni all over the world for their contribution support and prayers for Anitha. The experience with this initiative has once again reinforced the spirit and passion of the BITSian network to make a difference.
