BITSAA is happy to release its annual report for the year 2013.
BITSAA’s growing numbers, influence, and its committed army of volunteers have helped us remain involved in a wide range of activities aimed at enhancing the quality of BITS education, its faculty, its infrastructure, its student body, the affordability of BITS education to the economically disadvantaged, and ultimately the BITS, Pilani brand. The coffee-table book styled Annual Report for 2013 (available for online reading) highlights some of these activities from the past year.
The year 2013 has been quite momentous under the able leadership of our Chairman - Mr Raju Reddy('76-'81). Allow me to give you a quick snapshot.
BITSAA lauched the BITSians' Day: the day when the world witnessed the BITSian pride and what it meant to be a BITSian! BITSians' day is an annual event where BITSians across the world meet one another and relive the golden days at BITS. I am sure most of you were a part of this event and made it successful! Stay tuned for BITSians' Day 2014, on the 1st of August! (all through the weekend)
BITSAA was invited by NASDAQ for their opening bell ceremony. NASDAQ invites corporations and associations that have made significant impact-business or otherwise. This stands testimony to the exemplary work BITS and its alumni have done over the years. Very few alumni associations, like that of Cambridge and the MIT, have had the privilege to ring the NASDAQ opening bell. So, we are in good company!
The BITS Connect 2.0 project was successfully implemented. Telepresence and other virtual communications systems have been installed in all the three Indian campuses. Using this system, the institute has offered 37 courses to the students of all the three campuses.
The second edition of the BITSAA Global Meet was successfully held between January 3-5 2014. The event saw the participation of over 1200 BITSians who came down from various parts of the globe. As promised in the first edition of the BGM, we raised over USD 1 million for various BITS championed causes leading up to BGM 2014. We thank all the alumni for their generous contributions. In this BGM, various new projects were launched by BITSAA, such as the Career Center and the BITSAA AMP. The annual report describes these initiatives in more detail.
Please read the annual report to know more about the aforementioned and all the other initiatives undertaken by BITSAA in the last year.
Our teams are tirelessly working on a plethora of activities -helping students with their graduate application costs, funding student travel to international conferences and sponsoring many innovative student projects. Your contributions are the life blood to our Alumni Association and will enable us to help BITSians who need it the most. So, please donate generously.
Many thanks to the various BITSAA teams involved in getting it to shape. Go ahead and enjoy reading the BITSAA Annual Report 2013.
With Best Wishes
Director, Communications and Marketing
(on behalf of the BITSAA executive team)
