It’s a wonder how one name, one institution can bring together thousands. BITSians form a unique family coming together in thick and thin, whether it is to celebrate BITSians’ Day or to raise funds to support a former classmate afflicted by arthritis. Just like a family supports each and every member, BITS as a family has acted time and again to help all in need. Another such member of our family, Manjushree (Neepa) Sen (daughter of Prof. N.N Sen who was faculty at BITS Pilani, Physics Department) is in need of help. Manjushree has had a double lung transplant operation at Johns Hopkins medical center. While the operation was successful, the road to recovery is long and hard and she is faced with medical and rehabilitation costs that are not covered by Insurance.
To help her and other patients in need, we have set up a fund for her with the National Foundation for Transplant (NFT). The Foundation has made provisions to make tax deductible contributions online, her compelling story is on the NFT page. The foundation works with the service providers (hospitals, care givers etc.) directly for covered expenses; any funds left over from the fund drive for Manjushree Sen will be used to help other patients in need. NFT is a non-profit organization and 97% of the funds go towards helping patients in need. NFT has been assisting transplant patients with fundraising support for more than 30 years. Your gift will enable NFT to provide Manjushree with the financial support she desperately needs.
You can help by visiting http://patients.transplants.org/manjushreesen to make a tax-deductible donation to NFT in her honor.
The attached pdf provides details about NFT. The NFT is a non-profit institution vetted by outside reviewers such as BBB and Charity Navigator. We chose the NFT because of the low percentage it charges for administering the fundraiser, the range of expenses it deems eligible, and its personal touch when it comes to fundraising.
