Bombay Management Association (BMA) is India's most premier Management Association, established in 1954. It is an Independent non-profit making entity, which focuses on providing a wide range of services aimed at enhancing managerial effectiveness in a broad sphere of activities with a common desire to improve the standards of Business Management in India.
The Executive Committee of the BMA is the Governing Board of the Association. Members to the Executive Committee are appointed by an election and the term of each Executive Committee member is 2 years. This year the election to the Executive Committee of the BMA was held in May 2009. Dr.Nilay Yajnik who earned Electronics and Instrumentation degree from BITS Pilani in 1983 was elected to the Executive Committee for the period 2009 to 2011.It was a close contest among 14 potential candidates standing for 4 positions. Dr Nilay Yajnik is currently working as a Professor of Information Systems at School of Business Management, NMIMS University, Mumbai.
“The Election Committee of this association does not entertain campaigning in any form making it unique. The credentials of the candidates are shared among the members, who cast their votes depending on the candidate’s impression and contribution to the Management movement”, says Dr Nilay Yajnik. This is Dr.Nilay’s second consecutive term on the BMA Executive board. He is eagerly looking forward to provide strategic direction to the BMA and serve the Management community along with his contemporaries.
