Sharad Heda is a member of the graduating class of 1960 from BITS Pilani. He is arranging the 50 years reunion for class of 1960 during Nov 9th-11th in Pilani. He is trying to reach far and across to all BITSians so that maximum number of BITSians of class 1960 could show up for the reunion. Please read his message -

"My fondest memories of my youth are the days spent in Pilani. I haven’t been back since then but now that I have the time and the yen for memories old and lost, I want to visit Pilani.

I know that it won’t be the same. Madan’s Samosas, Guptaji’s fried toast and eggs easy-over are lost for ever. But is Connaught still there? I wonder if Madan left behind his Khata (I suspect I owe him few rupees.)

I even miss some of the evil ones. K.D.Sharma’s nasal twangs (“late comers, please close the door” << A pregnant pause>> “and stay outside”). Oh how he tortured us. Repeaters and casuals will testify to that. But of course these days I wonder if anyone knows what a casual is. That is why we chose the graduating year and not the year of joining.

I wonder if I can still take an early morning walk around the “Shiva Ganga”. It would clear my head. Helped me plan my February, March and April for the “Finals”. The two weeks that decided our fate for the next year. Those early morning walks were also good to rehearse for the various debating competitions I represented Pilani, all over North India.

Ahh! The stories are many and the memories very pleasant. Isn’t it a wonderful gift of nature that we remember only the fond ones and forget the unpleasant ones. If but I could get together with the old gang and swap stories. Wonder What every one looks like? Is “Soldier” still militant of mane? Wonder whatever happened to the fruit salt guzzling U.S. Asopa? P.N. Kak – who cold always eat one more Gulab Jamun than I could."

If you are from the class of 1960, you better not miss the event. If you are not from class 1960, pass the message around in your network so that it reaches every member of their graduating class and make the event successful from a distance.
