The BITSAA, Mumbai Chapter organized a wonderful get-together aptly called ‘Time of Your Life 2010’ for BITSians in the city. Alumni and present students ranging from batches of 1956 all the way to 2008 found their way to ‘Jade Garden’ in Worli, on the 25th September, 2010 and had a gala time at the event. True to BITSian spirit, amidst all the revelries, productivity was not lost as some new registrations for the BITSAA Global Meet were also completed that very night. Ms Pratibha Parthasarathy, of the batch of ’03 and her team wow-ed the audience with their musical talents, while everyone present got a chance to catch-up, reminisce and relive Pilani memories for a few hours.
We have the BITSAA Community, Mumbai chapter to congratulate for pulling off such a successful meet. This chapter of the Alumni Association was started in 2004 by five people who had the same idea – to keep the Pilani connection alive. Mr Dilip D Souza, Mr Pradeep
Mirchandani, Mr Aru Arumugam, Mr Ashish Bhinde and Mr Dinesh Mirchandani came together to found the Chapter and conducted two very well-attended
events in 2004 and 2005. In the following years, the Chapter fell
dormant as all the founder members moved away from Mumbai. The Chapter
however, resurfaced with new enthusiasm this year, primary due to the
passionate efforts of some recent Pilani and Goa graduates. They have
clearly achieved what they set out to do, with the TOYL ’10. One
alumnus we spoke to about the get-together said, “I think coming after
a hiatus of almost 6 years, the event was well attended with BITSians
across batches taking part in the proceedings and rekindling the good
old memories of Pilani.” The idea is to keep the Chapter alive, be
organizing regular activities - both formal and informal, so we can
definitely look forward to more such events in the future!
