Without letting complacency take over and dreaming of brighter sunshine for millions of people, is a challenge in itself and definitely a thought that makes one worthy of being a leader. Tarun Cherukuri, an engineer from BITS Pilani who worked with Hindustan Lever as a Technology manager,Foods and as a Teach for India Fellow is one of the 175 Fulbright scholars from across the country this year. He is currently a student of Masters in Public Administration at Harvard Kennedy School.

"I was thoroughly satisfied professionally and financially. My job at Hindustan Lever was to improve ice-creams. I found myself thinking what I am doing when there are millions who cannot afford an ice-cream a year in India. In the US, community service is common. But in India we make a deal of volunteering. I want to learn what drives community activism and implement it in India”, says Tarun.

BITSAA is proud of Tarun’s achievement and commitment to his goals. Congratulations and All the best Tarun!

"Congratulations on your selection as a Fulbright Scholar! The rest of us are Albright, half-bright, or not-so-bright, but you are Fulbright. On behalf of the entire BITSAA community, we are proud of you.” – Dr. S.P. Kothari
