Project BITSConnect2.0 gets in-principle approval from BITS Pilani Chancellor, BITSAA Board meets in 1 week for next-steps
This project aims at interconnecting five immersive (eye-to-eye contact based, high-quality) telepresence rooms spread over four campuses of BITS (and the Chancellor's office) for high-level meetings as well as collaborative research discussions amongst campuses, one 200-seater classroom each of all four campuses for multi-campus teaching, Web-conferencing (for supporting Embryo and WILP interactions).
Prof Rahul Banerjee, the Faculty lead said - "Just reached back from the Vision 2020 Mission 2012 Review Meeting of BITS Pilani held in Hyderabad! BITS-Connect 2.0: the USD 1.3 Million (INR 6.5 Crore) alumni-initiated Integrated Immersive Telepresence project gets in-principle go-ahead at the highest level (from the Chancellor)! Project timeline also agreed upon! Go-live date July 31, 2012 (expected). Now the next steps!"
