On taking over as the Chairman last year, I recognized the need for a governing body to streamline and strengthen our alumni programs. Towards this we conceived the idea of Chapters Council. Simply put, the goal is to devise ways to make BITSAA chapters work in harmony, share best practices, bring professional benefits to BITSians as well as help in fundraising activities for BITS Pilani.
My vision for the Chapters Council, besides reviving inactive chapters, is also to encourage formation of new chapters and serve as a forum for chapter leadership to voice their opinions and feedback to the BITSAA International board of trustees. The council shall strive to extend chapters beyond e-groups and fun activities to a more rounded group in order to bring better benefits to BITSians and to BITSAA. The Council itself shall meet thrice a year to discuss strategies and evaluate progress of set goals. The council will be vice chaired by Mr. C. S. Goel and Mr. Sudeep Jain.
I see the formation of the Chapters Council as the beginning of a focused effort to knit the global BITSian community together to reap many benefits. The increased networking of BITSians and chapters shall bring immense benefits to BITSians – professionally like exchanging employment and higher-education opportunities as well as personally like getting touch with your wingie after a decade. Further, sharing success stories and difficulties among different chapters shall strengthen individual chapters making them vibrant and more useful. I am looking forward to see chapters regrouping everywhere and to see our wonderful community network with, contribute to and benefit from each other.
