BITSAA International, registered as a non-profit in the USA, is well on its way to becoming truly international. The number of board members has been expanded from 14 to 20 in order to represent all parts of the world where significant alumni activities happen. Specific provision was made in the by-laws to include six Chapter Leaders on rotation from across the world. Pradeep Sethi ('72-'77), Srikanth Krishnamurthy (’88-’92) and Aditi Pany (’00-’04) from India, and Ramaswamy "Nagi” Nagarajan ('61-'66) from Australia joined the board as Trustees in 2011.
In addition, the Board unanimously adopted a motion to appoint CS Goel ('74-‘79) and Sudeep Jain ('86-‘90) as Vice Chairs of the Chapter's Leadership Council.
On the executive side, Rohit Koul (’02-’06), who took over from Arun Aravind (’97-’01) as COO in 2011, became the CEO starting Feb 1, 2012. Vijay Sharma (’06-’10), who was previously the Director of Operations, is now the COO. Aalap Tripathy (’04-’08) retired from the position of CEO.
Punita Pandey ('80-'84) and Arun Aravind stepped down from the board this year. BITSAA thanks them for their commitment and significant contributions to BITSAA in the years that they have been Trustees.
I have to make a special mention of Aalap’s work as the CEO. During my time with BITSAA and 25 years of professional life prior to that, I have rarely seen a young man at Aalap's age pursue his responsibilities with the kind of passion, confidence and determination that he brought to his job as the CEO of BITSAA International. The hallmark of any great organization is its ability to transcend individuals and grow stronger with each leadership transition. From the time I spent with the new BITSAA leaders Rohit Koul and Vijay Sharma, I am confident they represent the best of our young talent and they will indeed set a new benchmark for success in their role as CEO and COO respectively. Please join me in welcoming them to their new roles and I look forward to your full support in making them successful.
