In March 2012, Secretary Clinton launched US Water Partnerships (USWP) to address the global water scarcity. In her address, she specifically cited India’s water challenges. USWP views public-private-community partnerships and innovative approaches, such as Aakash Ganga, as key to solving the global water crisis. The Department of State has featured Aakash Ganga and here's the post by Dr. BP Agarwal on their blog.
It says that Akash Ganga is "A pioneering social enterprise bringing clean water to villages in Rajasthan grew out of a casual conversation among a handful of Indian-American friends about the societal problems plaguing their country of heritage". You can read the full article and see detailed video of Akash Ganga here.
As a follow up, the Department of State has invited international diaspora, corporations, foundations, and philanthropic ventures to Global Diaspora Forum on July 25 – 26, Washington DC.
