BITSAA-IRU Partial Travel Grant

BITSAA Travel Scholarship aims to provide partial support to the travel expenses of students presenting their research work carried out at one of the BITS campuses, in renowned technical conferences conducted abroad. This grant supports the travel expenses of students participating in academic events of International repute.

Procedure for applying

All the BITSAA travel scholarship applications must be sent to the faculty in charge of respective campuses. The contact details of the faculty in charge are given below:

Please read the below given Scholarship Guidelines carefully prior to applying for the Scholarship. 

 Scholarship Guidelines

    1. BITSAA Travel Scholarships is applicable only conferences in science, math and engineering. Not covered under this scheme are conferences and allied events related to literature studies, economics, personality development, etc. (BITSAA travel loan schemes covers these conferences, for examples HPAIR is covered under BITSAA Loan).
    2. Only students who are currently pursuing their undergraduate/graduate degree in one of the BITS campuses are eligible to apply for BITSAA Travel Scholarships. The travel period should necessarily lie in between the period of his/her study at BITS. Practice school is within the course curriculum and hence considered to be within the period of study. Special exceptions may be made if the research work was carried during the period of study at BITS but is being presented after graduating from BITS. These special exceptions shall not apply beyond 6 months from graduation.
    3. The BITSAA Travel Scholarships aims to provide assistance only for the travel expenses associated with the event. This does not include registration costs, medical insurance or any other expense incurred during the trip. Under certain special circumstances, the selection committee might provide additional financial assistance if the situation demands so.
    4. The research work should have been conducted in collaboration with one of the faculty members of any of the BITS campuses. It is mandatory that the corresponding faculty should be listed as an author or one of the co-authors of the conference paper presented by the student.
    5. The maximum financial assistance provided by the BITSAA Travel Sponsorship Program would be an amount equivalent to USD 500. If the applicant is from BITS-Pilani, Pilani Campus, another 37.5% of the travel expenses (not exceeding INR 20000) would be borne by the Institute and the rest has to be raised by the student.
    6. In the case of the recipient finding other sources to fund his/her travel, he/she must provide details about them, and the failure to do so may result in the cancellation of the scholarship. BITSAA holds the right to revert a scholarship in case the recipient finds sufficient funds (as determined by the committee) to support his/her travel expenses from other sources.
    7. Applications are accepted year round, but must be received as early as possible and ideally, 60 days prior to the beginning of the travel.
    8. International conferences conducted within India are not eligible for travel scholarships.
    9. A student can receive BITSAA Travel Scholarship and BITSAA Travel Loan (each program separately) only once during his/her tenure at BITS. This is to ensure that every student gets equal opportunity to be benefited by the scholarship/loan program.
