Suman Puvvaladasu (’96) - President, BITSAA Arizona Chapter

Suman is 96-2K EEEite and currently works as a HVM (high-volume-mfg) Lead at Intel Corp, Arizona. He got his masters in Mixed Signal Electronics from Arizona State University ('03) and since then worked with Intel on various desktop/mobile/server processors. He has been associated with BITSAA-AZ for over 4 years and started Orkut/Facebook groups for AZ Bitsians. He also serves as Social/Sports Chair for Intel-India-Arizona chapter. He has a great passion for enabling technology in education and dreams to become a full time educationalist. In 2004, he started 'Pratibha' Schools in Vijayawada, India to provide low-cost education. Today, the schools are spread over 3 campuses with over 850 kids and 60 Staff, providing education for an average cost of $80 per year. He currently lives in Gilbert,AZ with wife (Radhika) and daughter (Yuktha). His hobbies include reading non-fiction, literature/poetry and captaining a local team (SUNS XI) for Arizona Cricket league.

Ramaswamy Nagarajan (’61) - BITSAA Australia Chapter

Nagi is currently pursuing PhD in Sydney University on Modeling Community Perceptions of Large Capital Projects Using Soft Computing Techniques. He has been involved in a professional capacity in Information Technology, Market Research, Operations Research and Consulting work in Europe, India and Australia for over 35 years. He has managed diverse projects and studies, authored many reports and published a few papers. He did his BE Telecom in BITS Pilani (1961-66), Diploma in Computer Techniques in PII Eindhoven Netherlands (1966-68) and MSc (Management Studies) in Imperial College Business School London (1970-71).Back in BITS, he was the Secretary of Students Union (1963-64) and Founder Editor of BITS BEAT, Campus Newsletter (1964-65). He was also the Co-founder/Advisor of Bitsunami and Co-ordinator of Practice School in Bitsunami (2005-07).He is interested in sustainable development and renewable energy.
Dr. KRV Subramanian (’74) - BITSAA Bangalore Chapter
Location : Bangalore, India
Dr. KRV Subramanian is an alumnus of BITS, Pilani from the 1974-79 batch. He is perhaps better known as Raja or just KRVS. He considers himself fortunate to have had to opportunity to continue at BITS, Pilani beyond 1979 till 2000. At BITS, Pilani he served as Professor of Computer Science and Dean of the Distance Learning Programmes Division. He started the immensely popular Center for Software Development, which served as the fun-learning place for many BITSians with a passion for programming, crazy enough to spend long hours there, bunking lots of classes, watching their CGPA plummet, and yet coming out on top in their professional lives. He served as CEO of Ascendum Systems during 2000-2007. He also served as Director of the prestigious International Board of Standards for Training, Performance & Instruction (www.ibstpi.org). Currently, he is the CEO of Radix Learning, an Adjunct Professor of IIIT, Bangalore and also the President of BITSAA, Bangalore Chapter.
Sunil Nanda (’76) - BITSAA Bangalore Chapter
Sunil Nanda graduated from BITS, Pilani in 1980 with a BE Electronics followed by an MS Electronics from University Of Iowa. A recognized industry expert in Computer Architecture and VLSI design, Sunil has multiple technical patents to his name. After nearly three decades in technical & senior management roles spanning both the USA and India, Sunil is experimenting with early retirement since 2009. A person with varied interests, Sunil actively spends his time on social initiatives, math evangelizing and music and as an Angel Investor for startup companies. Sunil has been very active within the BITS Alumni community, be it delivering talks at BITS-Goa, recruiting from both BITS-Pilani and BITS-Goa, organizing batch get-togethers etc. As a trustee of a BITS Alumni Trust founded by his batch, Sunil is currently spearheading the AtmaNirbhara project in Pilani where the Trust is constructing a vocational school for the underprivileged. Earlier, the same Trust initiated and continues to maintain an insurance program for all the mess-workers in Pilani. Sunil also enjoys playing Classic Rock with his band-mates, in fact their band (NYOTH) was one of the inaugural acts during OASIS 2008 in Pilani.
Srikanth Krishnamurthy (’88) - BITSAA Chennai Chapter
Location : Chennai, India
Srikanth Krishnamurthy heads a rubber component manufacturing company called ALFA Rubber & Spring (P) Ltd. – an ISO/TS certified OEM supply organisation catering to mainly auto-component sector. He was an Executive Committee member of Tamil Nadu Small And Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) and was Vice-Chairman of the AIEMA Technology Centre a wing of the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturer’s Association. He is also an adjunct faculty for BITS Pilani at Chennai teaching Management courses. He is a Lion (Past President of Lions Club of Madras Sembium) and also a Freemason. He coordinates the BITS Pilani alumni network at Chennai. Srikanth holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and also an M Phil degree in Management from BITS Pilani. Srikanth resides at Chennai with his wife Renuka and son LakshmiNarasimhan. He is a member of All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) – Vice Chairman (2008-09) for Southern Region, TANSTIA-FNF Service Center – Trustee (2009-2011), Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) – Coordinator – UNIDO Auto Cluster, Past Board Member, Indian Rubber Institute (IRI), Madras Management Association (MMA), AIEMA Technology Centre – (Vice Chairman – 2004-05), Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA – state apex body for Small Industry) - Board Member – 2 Terms.
Bhushan Lakhe (’84) - Chapter Coordinator, BITSAA Chicagoland Chapter

After graduation, Bhushan started his career with Tata Consultancy Services, Pune and worked for a year at their CAD/CAM and Artificial Intelligence groups. Thereafter was a 5 year stint at Fujitsu-ICIM and he Worked mostly in UK with their various clients at different locations in UK. Moved to USA in 1995 and started consulting in Chicago. Worked for fortune 50 corporations in Chicago area in various consulting capacities for last 15 years. Currently consulting for the Database Administration group at IBM (for last 6 years), for their clients such as Capital One Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, ABN AMRO Bank, Bank of America, Honeywell, British Petroleum etc. as a Database Architect specializing in setting up and managing clustering and real-time Replication solutions for high availability of leading database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and Sybase.
Vinod Puri (’60) - BITSAA Delhi Chapter

Vinod Puri, President of BITSAA – Delhi Chapter, was born in the Golden Temple city of Amritsar. He joined Birla Engineering College in 1960 and completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering in December 1964. He setup his own Company at New Delhi in 1966. Vipko Engineers was specializing in installation and repair of high end electronic equipment imported by embassies and expats. In 1971, the company rose to a consultant, designer and installer of electrical and Air Conditioning plant Systems in India and Nepal. Since 1971, he has been providing world class consultation, operation and maintenance of various utilities involved in embassies and consulates. In his latest venture he is also active in consulting and guiding through his experience and vision AVP Solutions, a Digital Surveillance and Home/Commercial Automation Enterprise with an aim to explore technologies to make our lives greener and secured. Member of Freemasonry, an international fraternal and charitable organization and holds the rank of Past Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of India and the rank of Honorary Assistant Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Mauritius. Association with BITSAA DELHI CHAPTER goes back to 1970 and since then he has been associated being Honorary Secretary and President for many years.
C S Goel (’74) - BITSAA Delhi Chapter
CSG is a successful entrepreneur and runs Goel Engineers (India) (www.goelka.com) which is a "Perforation specialist" at New Delhi. He graduated from BITS Pilani in 1979 with a Masters in Management Sciences Degree. He has been actively participating in community building activities since his BITS, Pilani days. He was the Treasurer of BITSAA Delhi Chapter for the last 25 years & currently he is now Secretary. He has now been given responsibility as CEO of the first BITS Pilani Alumni Global Meet in 2011 at New Delhi as he is regarded as excellent organizer with several "Golden Jubilee Meets" under his belt. He has wide network of friends in industry, professionals, bureaucracy and politics. CSG has been President of Agrawal Sabha of Green Park, General Secretary of Green Park Association in New Delhi. Currently, he is National Vice President, Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) - a national body of small & medium industries. (www.fisme.org.in). CS comes from a distinguished family of Hodel, Haryana. His grandfather has been a famous Freedom Fighter- Shri Murli Dhar Goel, who was regarded as an engineering genius having gained expertise in producing ammunition for Indian freedom fighters.
Arjun Alok Goyle (’04) - BITSAA Dubai Chapter
Arjun graduated from BITS, Pilani - Dubai in 2008 from the 1st batch of Mechanical Engineering. All through his college days he had been associated closely with various activities at BITS such as the formation of the student council, member of the academic counselling board & as president of the Photography Club etc. After graduating from BITS he completed a Master's in Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University. Currently he is located in New Delhi & is working with Involute Tooling Corporation which is involved in the manufacture of gears & gearboxes. Even after more than 2 years of graduating from BPD he remains involved in the activities of the institution.
Vikrant Bhaskarwar (’01) - BITSAA East Coast Chapter

Vikrant is currently working as a Derivatives Pricing Analyst with Financial Services company Markit Group and is based out of New York City. He graduated from BITS with Bachelors in Computer Science Engineering in Dec, 2004. He worked in India for 2.5 years in the field of Investment Research after which he moved to US. He has a Masters in Quantitative Finance from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta.While at BITS, Vikrant was the Secretary of Computer Science Association and a member of the Senate. Shammi Raj Balla (’01) - BITSAA East Coast Chapter
Shammi is currently working in a pharmaceutical firm in Connecticut. He has been actively involved in organizing various BITSAA events including BITSAA East Coast Get Together. At BITS, he was BOSM coordinator for Department of Photography and member of Photog Club. Shammi holds a Masters Degree in Financial Engineering from NYU (2010) and Bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics from BITS Pilani and carries three years of experience in Electronics Design Automation firm in Delhi.
Lokesh Kumar Raja (’00) - BITSAA East Coast Chapter

Lokesh currently works as a Product Development Engineer in Stryker Orthopaedics, a Fortune 500 medical device company. He takes great pride in the fact that he has an opportunity to change the lives of thousands of patients worldwide by doing cutting edge research and development in orthopaedic implants and instruments. He graduated from BITS, Pilani with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering as well. In BITS, he was part of the tennis team, the cultural secretary of his hostel during his third year and the unofficial flag bearer of wing cricket! Lokesh lives in NJ with his wife, Ashwini and having known so many BITSIANs in the area woke up one morning and decided to join some really passionate and motivated BITSIANs to revive the BITS East Coast chapter. In his spare time, he loves playing tennis, cricket, collecting useless knowledge and traveling.
Raghavender Raghavan (’00) - BITSAA East Coast Chapter
Raghav is a 2000 batch BITSian currently working as Senior Manager, Business Analytics at Forest Laboratories in New York, NY. After graduating from BITS in Mechanical Engineering, he did his Masters in Industrial and Systems Engineering specializing in Operations Research from State University of New York – Buffalo, after which he finished his part-time Executive Degree in Strategy and Innovation from MIT – Sloan. His professional interests include actively exploring innovative predictive sales and marketing analytical models that enhance Sales Force Effectiveness. Raghav has been an active member of BITSAA for the past few years and most recently, an active participant in BITSAA East Coast Chapter initiatives. He is a big time movie buff who enjoys playing racquetball and avidly following all sports during his free time!
Kavya Sambana (’03) - BITSAA East Coast Chapter
Kavya Sambana currently works as a Civil Engineer with AI Engineers Inc, New York. She graduated from BITS Pilani in 2007 with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, followed by her Master’s degree at Virginia Tech. She has helped in reviving the BITSAA East Coast chapter and contributed actively to the recent initiatives of the chapter. At BITS, she was a core member of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and served as a creative team member for the annual Business plan competition – Conquest. She was also the President for the Civil Engineering Association during her final year at BITS. While at Virginia Tech, she served as the representative for the Alliance of Transportation Engineering Students and was an active member of various international Transportation Engineering organizations. Kavya enjoys dancing and is trained in the classical dance forms of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi.
Niranjan Bose (’92) - BITSAA Seattle Chapter

Niranjan (or Bose, as his batch mates know him) is currently with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Health Program, and in his role as a Program Officer with the Infectious Diseases team, he manages a portfolio of enteric vaccine development grants and other related investments. Prior to joining the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, he was with SDG Life Sciences, a unit of IMS Health, where he was a Senior Consultant and assisted clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries with strategy development, valuations, research validation and forecasting. Niranjan holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Dartmouth College and a Business Bridge Diploma from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He graduated from BITS, Pilani in 1997 with Masters in Biological Sciences and Bachelors in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Sanjay Khendry (’82) - BITSAA Hyderabad Chapter
Location : Hyderabad, India
Sanjay Khendry (1982-87, Physics-EEE) is secretary of BITSAA Hyderabad. Sanjay has 23 years of experience in the IT industry in International and India sales, marketing, account & partner management, software development, public relations and general management roles, working with clients globally. Currently, as Vice-President with Sierra Atlantic, he is handling the Indian market for the company. Sierra Atlantic is Silicon Valley headquartered IT Services Company specialized in providing Enterprise Application and Outsourced Product Development services. Prior to Sierra Atlantic, Sanjay handled sales and product management at Wings Infonet Limited (1992-94). Earlier (1987-92) he was with National Information Technologies Limited - A joint venture of Press Trust of India and MP State Electronics Development Corporation in software development, system integration and technology roles. An avid amateur photographer and a Rotarian, Sanjay is passionate about creating and enhancing options in basic school education for the under-privileged.
Akhilesh Jain (’75) - BITSAA Indore Chapter

Akhilesh Jain (1975-79, EEE) is the President of BITSAA Indore Chapter. He is currently a Consultant and Supplier of Energy efficient Industrial Lighting and is presently settled in Indore. At Pilani, Akhilesh had stayed at Vyas Bhawan & RP Bhawan and had enjoyed Bapu jokes (PJs). He was also the Joint Secretary of Hindi Debating Club and the Founder Secretary of Sneh Nirjhar – Pilani Hindi Parishad.
D. S. Bhandari (’64) - President, BITSAA Jaipur Chapter
Location : Jaipur, India
After doing a two years course in science from Birla Science College (1964), Mr. D. S. Bhandari compeleted B.E. (Hons.) in 1969 from University of Udaipur and did Post-Graduate Management (1973) from I.I.M., Ahmedabad. He has served for twenty two years in Senior/Top Management Positions with corporate biggies like Mahindra & Mahindra, Escorts, LML Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd. Mr Bhandari started his own business in 1995 as Promoter – Managing Sirector with a cement plant and thereafter a trading/distribution house involved in Chemical/Petrochemical of Essar Oil Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd.In 2004, he started an HR – Consultancy business as business partner with Ma Foi Management Consultants for the state of Rajasthan. He has served as the Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 3050 (2006-07), Charter President Rotary Club Jaipur Metro (2003-04), Vice President – Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (2000 – tilldate) an apex body of Trade & Industry for the state of Rajasthan, Member – Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee (2008-2010), appointed by Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India.
Vinod Kalani (’72) - BITSAA Jaipur Chapter
Having graduated in Pharmacy (Hons.) from BITS, Pilani in 1977, he has a rare blend of knowledge and experience - combining first hand knowledge with that of controlling and directing the entire gamut of business activities. His excellent track record is a result of his knack of highly motivated team, dedicated to achieve Company's objectives. Mr. Kalani has been managing his own company - Jaipur Pharmaceutical Works, Jaipur for over last 32 years. Mr. Kalani, in 1992, established another professionally managed organization Cris Pharma (India) Limited. This company is operational from June 2006 with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Dehradun, in the state of Uttaranchal. He started a commercial analytical laboratory - Oasis Test House Limited, Jaipur in 1981, which is one of the leading testing laboratories in northern India; and in 1995, he started another commercial analytical laboratory - Oasis Test House at Ahmedabad. Besides being efficient in management, Mr. Kalani has been an active member of various associations such as Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Indian Pharmaceutical Graduates Association. His efficiency and credibility is acknowledged equally by the professionals, the industry and the Government. He is President, Rajasthan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association; Vice Chairman, Confederation of Indian Pharma Industry (CIPI); Gen Sec, Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs (FOPE) and Senior Gen. Secretary, Trade & Industry Cell, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee Recipient of IPA Fellowship Award 2008.
Diwakar Pingle (’88) - BITSAA Mumbai Chapter

Diwakar Pingle (Pingle @ Pilani) graduated from BITS with a integrated Masters in Engineering Technology in 1992. He dabbled his hands at a software firm for two years before realizing he was not cut out for it. A degree in management from Symbiosis, Pune in 1996 was his last known educational qualification though he has attempted courses like CFA and Masters in Law which went nowhere!!! Diwakar has spent all of his post MBA period in financial services specifically in the areas of Corporate Finance and Project Finance with firms like ABB Financial Services, NM Rothschild, Tionale Enterprises and Satyam Computers. He currently heads the India arm of Christensen which is a financial advisory firm into investor relations consulting. When not working (which is most of the time), he can be seen either participating or conducting quizzes across India. He was incidentally the Brain of BITS in 1990, an event he does not remember very clearly as he was under some influence!
Raminder Singh Virdi (’69) - BITSAA Pune Chapter
Location : Pune, India
Raminder Singh Virdi is a BE (Hons) Mechanical Engg passout (1969-74) from BITS Pilani. He has been actively involved with BITS Alumni –Pune Chapter after being the Secretary for about three years, and now has taken over the responsibility as the Chairman. He started his working career with KIRLOSKAR OIL ENGINES LTD , Pune as Management Trainee and during the 15 years association with the company the functions and area of responsibilities included Production Planning , Industrial Engineering , Manufacturing Engineering and Projects. From 1990 to 1997 he was associated with the KHD Germany Licencee manufacturing Diesel Engines / DG sets in Indonesia and was heading the Diesel Engine Division. In 1994 he entered into an arrangement with NewZealand company to start own venture in the field of Microprocessor based Control systems for Engines / Telecom applications including the Remote Monitoring Solutions which continues till date.
Bala G Ramprasad Torati (’96) - BITSAA UK Chapter
Location : London, UK
Ramprasad (aka RamP) works as a Technical Architect with SunGard, London. Before joining SunGard, he worked in a similar role at Symbian (a subsidiary of Nokia), London. He was selected for the prestigious Swiss Federal Fellowship for the year 2002-03 awarded by Swiss Government to 25 academic élites in the world per year. He earned his Masters from Swiss federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne as part of the fellowship program. From BITS, he joined Cisco Systems, Bangalore as a Software Engineer through campus placement. At Pilani, he did his BE (Hons) in Computer Science and his ID number was 96A7PS166. He got his ID number changed from 96A8 to 96A7 by taking a transfer in his second year. RamP co-ordinated many events in BITSAA-UK chapter in association with Sandeep Sharma. He is an active participant of many UK based charities fund raising initiatives, notably action village India charity.
Prem Talreja (’) - President, BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter
Location : Silicon Valley, USA
Prem Talreja is an alumnus of BITS, Pilani from the 1970-75 batch where he recieved his BSEE. He has an MSEE from Wisconsin and MBA from Duke University and has lived in USA since 1979. He has served in engineering and marketing management roles in the semiconductor industry with stints at Infineon, Cirrus Logic, Moschip and Sigma Designs. Currently, he is the Director of Sales at Sigma Designs, a part-time Instructor at University of California and also the President of BITSAA, Silcon Valley Chapter
Kartik Bandhuvula (’02) - VP Operations, BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter
Kartik aka Dolby is a 2002 batch BITSian, currently works as a Design Engineer at ARM, Inc in Silicon Valley. Kartik has been associated with BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter for nearly two years. He has been actively involved in organizing various BITSAA events in the valley. At BITS, he was a member of the EEE Association and Backstage. Kartik holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (2008) and a B.E.(Hons) Electrical and Electronics degree from BITS Pilani
Bhargav Addala (’02) - Secretary, BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter
Bhargav is an Applications engineer in the E-Business Suite group at Oracle Corp. USA and is based in the Bay Area. Bhargav has been involved with BITSAA as a moderator of Bits2MsPhd for more than a year now as well as being an active participant in BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter initiatives. At BITS, Bhargav was a member of the Corroboration and Review Committee (C.R.C.), a member of the Election Commission panel and a member of the Department of Photography. He completed his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University (2008) and his B.E.(Hons.) Mechanical Engineering from BITS, Pilani (2006)
Srini Rao (’79) - President, BITSAA Singapore Chapter
Location : Singapore
Srini Rao is alumnus of BITS, Pilani ('83 MMS) and is an experienced professional in telecommunications focused on business development in Asia. Srini is based in Singapore since 1990 and is married and has 2 sons. While at Pilani Srini was very active in student activities being member of the union and also the STUCCA.
Srideepti (’03) - Secretary, BITSAA Singapore Chapter
Srideepti is a 2007 Mechanical Engineering graduate from BITS Pilani. While at BITS, she was a senior core member of the Department of Photography and also the Sports Secretary of Meera Bhavan. At the end of 4 years, not only did she get herself a degree in Mechanical but also a best friend and life partner, Vikram Bodicherla, a 2007 Computer Science graduate from BITS Pilani. She has been actively associated with the BITSAA Houston chapter for almost one year before moving down to Singapore in July 2010. Over the past 3 years she has worked with Schlumberger in India, France, Houston and Singapore as a Supply Chain Engineer.
Uttam C Mehta (’71) - President, BITSAA Ahemdabad Chapter

Mr.Uttam C.Mehta is the chairman of UCM group of Industries. He had graduated from BITS Pilani in 1975 with a B.E (Hons) in Chemical Engineering. He has over 25 years experience in the stainless steel industry. He is also the director of Naroda Enviro Projects Limited. He is also the Founder Chairman of Naroda Industrial Co-Op Bank Limited. He has been the President of Naroda Industries Association & the Chairman and trustee of Naroda Industries Association Charitable Hospital.
